Lets see here...
I moved to Fairbanks in September for a postdoc at UAF. My research focuses on modeling the population dynamics and evolutionary ecology of salmon and other species. I'm an avid snowboarder and packrafter. I'm up-beat and despise negativity. I'm most at home in the wilderness, but don't mind a good night of live music and good friends in the city. I enjoy climbing trees, reading in hammocks and an afternoon in a good coffee shop.
What I’m doing with my life
What I'm doing with my life:
Studying and working at the nexus of math and ecology, and loving every minute of it.
What I wish I was doing (sometimes):
Traveling the country in a 1980's Volkswagon van (pop-top) seeking the endless winter. I need a copilot for this adventure, let me know if you might be interested.
I’m really good at
Making people smile.
The first things people usually notice about me
My blue eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
A Short History of Nearly Everything, A Farewell to Arms, A Walk in
the Woods, The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test.
Cool Hand Luke, Dazed and Confused, Tombstone, The Great Escape,
Interview with the Vampire, The Longest Day.
The six things I could never do without
Lets see here...
An excuse to get outside of the city,
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How cool it is that you can explain some of chaos in nature with mathematical models. Evolutionary trajectories. How I can rearrange my schedule to ski more or where my next ski adventure will take me (checked Japan off the list this past winter). Where I can meet buddies for splitboarding or bc skiing in Fairbanks.
On a typical Friday night I am
I'd like to say out with friends at a bar, dancing, drinking and having a wonderful time. However, statistically I'm probably more likely to be found at home or going for a long run after work.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm a little embarrassed to be on OKcupid, but I'm willing to give
this a try.
You should message me if
You believe we have similar interests and you are willing to come
square dancing at the Tractor sometime (NOTE: square not line
dancing, think bluegrass not belt buckle and cowboy hat). Ski
buddies and friends for lazy Sundays spent drinking coffee are
encouraged. Wittiness is required, classiness is not. Extra points
if you are keen in hiking into a hotsprings sometime soon, as this
is one of my very favorite activities.
