My self-summary
A quick note before you read on:
I have mostly ceased visiting this website due to many more important things in my life. I will respond to messages, though, if you're interested in contacting me for whatever reason. Thanks for visiting, and have a good day! :)

==================

I was born in New Jersey and proceeded to live in the northeast USA for 3 years.
Moved to Singapore for 6 years. (Pre-School & Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 3)
Then to Qatar for 2.5 years. (Grades 3 - 5)
Then to Taiwan for 1 year. (Grade 6)
Then to Irvine till the end of high school. (Grades 7 - 12)
~> moved to Tustin sometime during my last year in high school
Proceeded to Berkeley. (4 years of university)
Back in Tustin now. (See the next section to see what I'm up to!)

All the moving around categorizes me as a TCK (Third Culture Kid -- loosely defined as spending a large portion of one's developmental years in a culture or cultures that is neither that of your ethnic background nor that of your citizenship, hence a third culture ... look it up if you're interested). So you might find me a bit unusual (& if you're a TCK you might find my experience of settling back in America relatively early somewhat interesting as well) as I've taken on a multitude of habits, mannerisms, personalities, and cultures across the people and environments I've had the privilege of experiencing (and continue to do so as I live and breathe). As such is the case, my interests and personality are wide-ranging and sometimes contradictory (a really good example is my interest in and admiration for fighting but also dance), which makes for an interesting life. :)

The moving around really strengthened my relationship with my family, so you can definitely consider me a family man. It's interesting to note that even though I always said I hated kids and didn't want any, as I grow older, I feel more and more compelled to be a good father. Of course, this scenario of parenthood is really distant from the present, but I do joke that the occupation I would be best at is a homemaker.

Although I've gone through a lot and consider myself wise to a certain regard, I try my best to stay humble and and open-minded because I still have a lot to learn. I do my best to be always reliable as well as act compassionately and properly, with integrity, morality, respect, love, and consideration -- the way I was raised. But I am only human, so I am bound to make mistakes. Nevertheless, I aim to be the best I can be in all aspects and to work on my flaws and shortcomings. I may be shy and reserved at times, but I'm a good and friendly guy whom I hope you will appreciate to have met.

===================

Since there isn't a section for general interests, I'll include some here:
I like to play badminton (even though I don't really get to play too much anymore, unfortunately). I also enjoy other physical activities (ie. swimming, yoga, bball, etc.).
I do play some computer games (LoL & DotA[2], primarily.. also, HoN, WC3, SC2, CS[GO], L4D[2]), too, but I do this more so to keep close with a number of my friends than because I like to game, which has dwindled considerably since high school & college.
I like to keep busy, but I also think it's important to slow down & veg out at times in front of the tv or computer.
I really enjoy board games (I'm talkin' the good stuff, like Catan, Ticket to Ride, Dominion, Pandemic, etc... not that Monopoly junk) & have a decent collection, so if you're into that, you know what to do -- Game Night!
What I’m doing with my life
I graduated with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, but various factors have steered me away from that career path. I have since been working toward becoming a physical therapist. I'm currently doing a post-bac of sorts, fulfilling pre-reqs (academia and work) for PT School, for which I am in the application process. Once I get my Doctorate, I look forward to helping others and practicing what I've learned over the years.
I’m really good at
not bragging about things that I am good at.
The first things people usually notice about me
is that I'm shy and reserved... but once those walls come down (& it ain't too hard to tear 'em down), it's a different story. Other things people might notice initially is that I am punctual, prepared, and can be serious yet light-hearted and considerate, and that these qualities, among others, make me reliable and trustworthy.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I'm not much of a reader, so I can't really say for books... the last series of books I read with interest was the Harry Potter series.

Movies: I tend to enjoy action flicks, thrillers, comedies, and the occasional drama or romance (or combinations of any of the above). I would also watch documentaries and perhaps historical pieces assuming the subject is interesting. I think the main genre I don't enjoy is horror.

Shows: I like a bunch of shows -- too many, perhaps. Of the shows that currently air, I watch So You Think You Can Dance, UFC (& other MMA), Fringe, Survivor, How I Met Your Mother, Family Guy (& the various spin-offs / Seth MacFarlane shows), Mythbusters, Alphas, Storage Wars, Grimm, America's Best Dance Crew, New Girl, Ben & Kate, Anger Management, Nikita, Shark Tank, miscellaneous sports... and if I think of any more, I'll add 'em.

Music: I don't listen to music too much, unless I'm driving, but I think I am generally in favor of the many forms of electronica, rap, pop, rock, classical, etc... the only genres I am generally more averse to are country and oldies, probably. I think most of my favorite songs usually involve rap + another genre (eg. Linkin Park or harder trance beats mixed with rap). Otherwise, I tend to find it difficult to listen to songs multiple times. (Curse you, Clear Channel!)

Food: I enjoy Chinese food and American cuisine, and I like sushi, (k)BBQ, buffets, etc. I tend to latch onto foods that I enjoy and be content with what I have, but that is not to say I won't try new foods. I am definitely a meat eater, though, so if we're going to try something, please, not a vegetarian or vegan place if I'm hungry.
The six things I could never do without
First & foremost: family.
Friends (and general social support) are also really important.
I really value being healthy as well. This includes eating right, sleeping right, a good balance of mental and physical activities, social interaction, etc.
Technology, nature, sports & (healthy) competition.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
the past, present, future... hypotheticals... what I need to do, what I want to do... dunno... can't really say specifically. I think a lot -- too much, maybe, but that's what the activities are for, to give me a break from my thoughts.
On a typical Friday night I am
Honestly, it depends on my schedule... I do like to spend time with friends if I'm free, though, be it online or in-person.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am mostly an open book, so if you'd like to, please get to know me and find out for yourself.

I feel like this section would be more appropriately labeled "most embarrassing thing I'll admit", though, because it seems that's how most people use this box. If I were to answer it that way, I'd probably describe my messaging success rate on OKCupid. I guess I'm no good at messaging because a lot of the young ladies out there I'm messaging seem to be uninterested in friendly conversation with me. :( I wish somebody would throw me a bone and tell me what I'm doing wrong. The only hint of a pattern that I've noticed that may or may not be accurate is that when I mention anything school-related, conversation stops. I'm polite and respectful in my messaging... I don't know what I'm doing wrong... I suppose I'm not playful enough? But it feels forced and fake if I try to act like a super sociable, outgoing guy and poke fun here and there to create reactions. I'm not a pick-up artist and have no intent of ever manipulating women for my personal gain. I believe relationships (be it friendship or something more) start from a strong foundation of common interests and mutual respect, and I don't know how to build that, especially via an online means, other than polite, appropriate conversation.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 18–30
  • Located anywhere
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners, long-distance penpals
You should message me if
there was anything on my profile that struck your fancy or if there's something I didn't mention/explain that you'd like to know. Like I said, I'm mostly an open book, and I'm definitely interested in getting to know more people -- that's why I have a profile at all. I know my profile is kind of long, but I want to portray myself thoroughly and accurately, so if you've had the patience to read through it all, thanks, and leave me a note!
