I am enthusiastic, sincere, and quirky.

My Self-Summary

My friends would tell you without hesitation that I am loyal, honest, and dedicated. Most of my life outside of work is spent on little projects; I love creating things where nothing was before, physically or in any other way.

I strive to be successful at anything I do, whether it's learning to make an origami panda or customizing an operating environment for a laptop. I pay attention to the little details, mediocrity is not really my style. I prefer people to trust and respect my competence.

I love nerdy girls! My specific interests are all over the charts; I appreciate talent and passion in anything, common or obscure. Do you play flute brilliantly? Maybe you fleece wigs by hand or build projects on breadboards? I can geek out on pretty much anything, and usually do; whatever your particular intrigues, I'm almost definitely going to find you beguiling!

What I’m doing with my life

These days, I work quite a lot. At home, you might catch me working on music - either collecting it, making it, or listening to it; I'm looking forward to the prospect of singing and playing out again!

I've got a bevy of other hobbies that captivate my interest on and off... I create areas on a MUD, and help run a gaming convention outside of NYC. I knit chain maille from galvanized electric fence wire. I used to obsess over juggling, Rubik's cube and its variants, showtunes, old school NES, and similar sorts of things... yeah!!

I’m really good at

There was a time I used to write many beautiful songs; I suspect I'm still good at it (if bit rusty), but the last couple of years have strained my creativity.

I have a knack for making people feel comfortable and at ease.

I can cook and bake. For a while I was committed to making my favorite Americanized Chinese restaurant dishes... as a result I can put together a pretty killer hot & sour soup, chicken chow mein, and General Tso's.

The first things people usually notice about me

I recently shaved my head bald. It kind of draws attention.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Live or contrived, honest or absurd; broadcast in, on, or around stages, bound volumes, sofas or screens.. performance is vital to the human experience. Music and theatre are synonymous with life. We perceive, become stimulated, and react; it seems a natural reaction to share notes of noteworthy things, and harmoniously sympathetic to observe and be stimulated by others.

Sci-Fi and Fantasy, both in the contexts of gaming and passive entertainments, are favorites of mine. I don't own a klingon costume, but I do watch Star Trek. I love documentaries and stand up comedy.

I read 2600 every quarter. Heinlein wrote both the best (The Moon is a Harsh Mistress) and worst (I Will Fear No Evil) books I think I've ever read. Utopian fiction (1984, Brave New World, Animal Farm) intrigues me. I'm also a sucker for LOTR and literature of that ilk.

Musically I dig pretty much anything... I'm not picky as long as we're talking about a nice balance of form and substance. Or enough of one to excuse the other!

Speaking of non sequiturs, I am an omnivore.

The six things I could never do without

Optimistic perseverance. People to share affection with. The Internet. Steady income. Simple detachments from reality. The Mouse.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Why is the 3.5" floppy disk still the icon for 'save' in MS Office 2007?

On a typical Friday night I am

Watching television, eating snacks, petting my cat on her precious little lead, or just perhaps... going on expedition into the urban wilderness.

Or spending a few hours, just me and my guitar, noodling about life.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Once upon a time in high school, I had to kiss a girl onstage in a musical. It was a long, wonderful kiss, and I accidentally fell in love with her despite our differences. Months later, when I finally got the balls to ask her out for real, I found out she'd fallen in love with me too... but by then it was too late to make a difference.

In 1995, I learned how important it is to act on opportunity and take reasonable chances. It's been a constant string of emotional enlightenments ever since.. but I still haven't found myself with a girl who finds herself willing to take the same risks with me.

You should message me if

You're cute, nerdy, and would like to get to the core of a man without having to sift through machismo and peacocking.

When you smile, you don't appear to be fighting a frown. You know who you are, and who you are is awesome.

You are looking for a flavor of crazy that compliments your own.
