My self-summary
http://www.yelp.com/topic/portland-the-dating-world

Some things I've noticed over the years include...

I stay up late and get up early.
I'm the first to say I'm sorry, but I refuse to apologize for my high standards.
I like to break gender stereotypes.
I really love my bike. It's a fixed gear; judge as you may.
I get happy and excited about little things easily.
I get upset and sad about little things easily.
I seek out genuine connection.
I'm always curious.
I have strong convictions, but dislike confrontation.
I could live in a tent for the rest of my life and be completely happy.
I'm captivated by amazing stories or amazing story tellers.
I go backpacking alone to "reset"
I don't like rules. (or rather, I like to break rules)
I set really high goals for myself and usually over do it on the path to achieving them.
I'd rather be a participant than an observer.
I get an epic thrill from being places I'm not supposed to be. (roofs of skyscrapers, backstage, abandoned/condemned buildings... that sort of thing)
I love to dance, and I hope you do to!
I have this unquenchable need to be outside in wild freedom.
I'm extremely self reliant in practical matters and yet more dependent in emotional ones.

Also, I don't really like bubble tea... or pickles.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm running or riding my bike a lot, going to shows, or making costumes. In the summer I spend a lot of time backpacking and cycling. I'm the kind of guy who is almost always out doing something with every free moment I have. (It's likely that if you're not also the kind of person who enjoys lots and lots of doing, we probably won't see much of each other...) In the winter I spend more time working on projects. ADX (www.adxportland.com) is my place for making cool things. Well, I think they're cool. I wish I had more time to spend there, actually. Right now I'm working on building a cafe racer from a '72 CB350F, making a take-down recurve archery bow, along with many others.

I like pushing myself to my limits. Physically and mentally. I fancy myself somewhat of a jack-of-all-trades; I have a lot of interests (ask me about some of them!) My exposure to most of my current passions is relatively new though. I was living the corporate lifestyle until about 4 years ago. After a few near death experiences, I've found my freedom and identity, and will never go back.
I’m really good at
telling and listening to stories
making/fixing things
planning road trips
follow through (as in, I do what I say I will)
running
misplacing things (including myself)
finding my way back
The first things people usually notice about me
That I'm fascinated by small details, am easily excited, and I smile a lot. Possibly that I'm wearing toe shoes and I ask a lot of questions. I'm genuinely interested in knowing people!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

The six things I could never do without
1. a method of travel (anything will do, really. bike, car, train, plane, feet, etc. the more the merrier)
2. freedom to use that transportation at will.
3. some form of physical creative outlet that allows me to make something. art supplies, craft supplies, fabric, electronics parts, bike parts, etc. and all other manner of random junk for making things.
4. something physically or mentally challenging (I thrive when accomplishing goals).
5. good, close friends to enjoy the above 4 things with
6. mountains (really just somewhere remote or hard to get to)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Design - Efficiency - Minimalism - Philosophy - Simplicity - Theoretical Physics - Human Interaction - Culture - Running (a lot of time thinking about running) - Tattoos - Self improvement - Alaska - Australia - Burning Man - The next time I'm going to go cycling or running or backpacking - The next costume or project I'm going to work on - My schedule (I'm always planning things, even hypothetical things)
On a typical Friday night I am
I'm probably enjoying a tasty meal, a documentary or book, working on a project or costume, or maybe an evening run. Maybe going to a show, or getting drinks with friends. There's always something in Portland to get into! My schedule is governed more by what fun things there are to do rather than my responsibilities for work.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Sometimes I like dancy pop music.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 26–34
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
You read all the way down to this section.
You like being sweaty and tired and getting dirty in the outdoors.
You have passion and ambition.
You might describe yourself as "fit".
You'd rather have an interesting life than a comfortable one.
You sing in the shower.
You're reliable.
You notice little things.
You laugh more than you cry, but both are part of your life and you like it that way.
You take chances without fear of the outcome.
You know what you want.
You get it. You have your act together.
You're emotionally stable and ready for a relationship. (seriously)

In the end, I want a partner who is really into me for me. Who likes me for all of my unique talents, quirks, and passions. Someone who wants to grow together and learn from one another. I love to travel and plan to often, probably for the rest of my life. I hope to find someone who isn't just a tag along or participant, but a leader. Someone who has a thirst for knowledge and learning and a desire to build a partnership in that journey for experience and knowledge. I'm a genuine soul who won't play games and is ready and willing to fully open myself for the right person.

Our lifestyles will probably clash if you aren't interested in being outdoors OFTEN even when it's cloudy/rainy/cold, don't like to travel, didn't really bother filling out your profile, have sleeping listed as something you can't live without or that you're good at, or don't own a bicycle. Not that these are deal breakers... I'm just sayin'.
