My self-summary
Smart, active, confident, respectful, honest. Scientist, inventor, builder. I like to figure out how things work, and often make them better.

Curious, playful, willing....
Open to new experiences.
Tantric, but in a practical non-mystical way.

Open to dating around for a while, but not afraid to commit.

I am intelligent, curious, and open
What I’m doing with my life
Working in high tech, inventing and building things that you probably own or use every day.

Traveling for work and pleasure. Fortunately, I can usually add some fun time on to my business trips. In the last year, I've been to China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Germany, Italy, England, Ireland, Mexico, and Texas.

Building large-scale fire art and performing shows that impress even the hard-core pyros. At BurningMan I've worked on the Fire Vortex, 2BLEVE, Crude Awakening, and also taught tantra classes.

Cooking dinner with friends most Sunday nights.

Dogsitting, mountain biking, building and flying, skating, reading...
I’m really good at
Figuring out how things work.
Taking things apart without breaking them.
Finding root cause.
Flying, Cooking, Tasting, Loving.
The first things people usually notice about me
My friends often refer to me as a "Renaissance Man". I'm not sure whether they mean 500 years behind fashions, or that I have a wide range of interests and skills.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books? There are so many. I read quite a bit, and the recently-read books tend to pile up in my bedroom. Right now the pile includes biographies, history, science fiction, silly fiction, business. I've just remodeled my house, and one unfinished project is to give away all the books I won't read again.

Today I am reading Molecular Gastronomy by Herve This. Explains the chemistry and physics behind some common cooking rules of thumb and which ones are bogus.

Movies? "You can't fight in here, it's the war room!"

Music? A wide variety. I listen to a college station that almost never plays a song twice.

Food? Mmmmm. My favorite cuisines are Thai, Italian, Hunan and Szechuan chinese, a good steak cooked over a real fire, French, Japanese, Vietnamese, and something-wrapped-in-bacon. I love to cook and I'm pretty good at cooking quickly with big knives and hot pans.
The six things I could never do without
Clean air
Good food
Loving connection
Curiosity
My friends
I spend a lot of time thinking about
...the future - What to do next. Whether it will matter in a year or ten or a hundred. Kids. How could I influence the next generation in a positive way?
On a typical Friday night I am
checking the weather. Deciding where to go next.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I want to have children. On the one hand, I think I would be an excellent parent and my friends think so too. I'm ambivalent in thinking that 6 billion is already too many people for this planet, and in not having chosen a partner that is ready to have children.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 31–55
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
...If you're single, smart, playful, and not too far away.

...If you think we have enough in common to justify a few minutes of your time to write a note.

...If you want to meet, and see how it goes.

Or if OKcupid says we're a match, and you're also curious how well their matching system works. Let's compare notes - no strings attached.

Or if you'd like to show me around Bangkok, HongKong, Taipei, Kyoto, Tokyo, or Seoul -- especially the weird and unique features, and the foods that don't end up in American restaurants.

You know how I should spend my frequent flier miles.
