My self-summary
Hi! I'm finishing up a phd at Stanford but, more importantly, am also looking for someone fun to hang out with.

About me: I'm an irreverent jokester, a hard worker, active socially and exercisily, pretty serious about my political beliefs (no centrists or Ayn Randians please). I like to watch sports, see new films, discuss current events, try new foods, that kind of thing.

About you: You are independent, strong-willed, and have a good (and forgiving) sense of humor. You think standing in line for 90 minutes to have brunch is crazy (unless bloody marys are served while you wait).
What I’m doing with my life
studying education policy, economics and ethics at stanford. was a teacher for 7 years in a small American Indian community in the northwest part of New Mexico. I heart New Mexico. I have one year left in my program and then will need to join the ranks of adults.

I've been getting into biking, and have been enjoying biking around south bay.
I’m really good at
Reading reviews of television shows and movies so I don't have to watch them all.

Watching TV shows after reading reviews of them and ruining the show. Game of Thrones: ruined. Stupid Wikipedia.

Organizing people to get together to play sports (almost always casually). My party planning skills are less good.
The first things people usually notice about me
2 Kings 2:2324

23 From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some boys came out of the town and jeered at him. “Get out of here, baldy!” they said. “Get out of here, baldy!” 24 He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the boys.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
There's a book called Disgrace by JM Coetzee, a South African writer. It's one of the most thought provoking books I've read in the past 10 years, at least a literary book. Beyond Good and Evil is really remarkable, as well as Life as Literature and The Art of Living, both by Alexander Nehamas.

For movies, Kingdom of Heaven, Children of Men, and anything with Will Ferrell. Also, I liked the Transformer movies. That probably should go in the "most private thing I'm willing to admit" box.

Food: all stuff. Peruvian, Asian, sushi, Californian. Food is good. Would love to try some places around San Fran.

Lately I've been listening to Nick Cave and Gram Parsons. I generally listen to folk, country, blue grass. Give this a listen, you won't regret it:
