My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hi! I'm Gabrielle. I mostly go by Gabby. I'm an artist & writer working on building up my creative careers & getting my hands dirty in the Dallas art/ indie/ nice people scenes (well, the latter is still in the -very-early stages of development, in that I just made it up). I'm open to pretty much anything. I'm pretty friendly, I'll talk to anyone about anything. I fail at OKC because I'm always like "ok you're cool let's meet up sometime" which I guess is too much. But I think messaging endlessly & building up crazy expectations online, then meeting and finding out there is zero chemistry IRL (or that the person you're talking to doesn't want to meet) is so much worse than just jumping into an awkward (or not) encounter and immediately getting a real sense of a person. Cause I do that ish every day one way or another.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
making art, viewing art, thinking, writing, reading, working a lame 9-5, dreaming of <3
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
*making fun/ interesting/ unexpected things out of ordinary things (ideas are included here in "things")
*finding common ground with people
*listening to the person no one is hearing
*being courteous & conscientious
*getting to the nitty gritty
*"saying what everyone else is thinking but doesn't say" (I am not sure if this is good or bad--No, I'm fine with it. I don't give a fuck.)
*staying informed
*taking criticism & changing my behavior as needed
*absurdity!
*keeping things in perspective
*writing, drawing, digital art, sculpting, (I can't paint for shit so if that's a dealbreaker just click away now ladies) conceptualizing, memeing, *assembling ideas and images over different media
The first things people usually notice about me

I like dense films packed with detail. I watch tons and tons of documentaries. And also random movies about lesbians on Netflix.

My love affair with TV has cooled off of late. Recently the only stuff I actually watch is the Rachel Maddow show (typical), Workaholics, Pretty Little Liars (catching up on Netflix), SVU reruns, Girls, and that about does it. Oh! and Girl/ Girl Scene.. and if I'm being *perfectly* honest here, I hate-watch the Real L Word on occasion.

Non-fiction mostly, but I can get down with a really good novel.. Chuck Klosterman, Chris Adrian, Chuck Palahniuk, Sartre, Nietzsche, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, DFW.. main types of stuff I read: existentialist stuff, human/ civil rights stuff, sports & pop culture commentary, arts, Texas/ Dallas stuff, dystopian fiction, and 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 bloggers & publications.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
chardonnay (preferably boxed, on account of the environment)
a pen and a pad
words, art, music, beauty in all forms
jokes so funny I cry a little
people, especially women, who absolutely fascinate me
love
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Truth vs. narrative, art, feminism, shows to go to, videos to make, essays to write, comics to draw, trips to make, new things to learn, sexism, racism, homophobia, injustice, Texas, Dallas, friends, art, cats, t-shirts, dresses, politics, comedy, girls, music, writing, hip hop, how to make music, my family, sports, life, death, fate, religion. I give zero shits about gossip, celebrity or otherwise. I get completely bored talking about who from high school is doing this or that, ughhh even thinking about it, no offense, it's my ADD etc.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Watching a movie with a glass of wine or hitting up a gallery opening/ popup show/ performance something or other, also with a glass of wine. Doing whatever I feel like!.. with a glass of wine.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I stay up really late.
