My self-summary
Let's see, as outgoing as I am, I seem to have a hard time describing myself on here. I am into a LOT of things, because it seems the whole world is absolutely fascinating to me. So I could be considered a giant nerd. I guess nerd is somewhat chic now adays, so I promise I mean it when I say it!

I love looking at space/Hubble images (it's my one of my fav expressions of "art"), cartoons, cooking, and having a pint with friends.

I have a pretty standard IT/finance job, but do enjoy a few hobbies (especially grilling and BBQ-ing). I try not to take myself too seriously, so I hope you don't either!

If you're familiar with Meyers-Briggs, I'm an ENTJ.
What I’m doing with my life
Right now I'm perform analytics for a large bank. It's basically a nice cocktail of Finance, Banking, Computer Science, and Math. I love it! I also get to lead a great group of smart analysts and developers, so teamwork is definitely something I can get behind!

I finished my MS in Finance recently, but getting antsy so I've started studying for some certifications, unless I find other things more fun to do (which I usually do).

I've recently been watching the TED talks, so if you have any great recommendations, let me know! I'm hoping someone's great talks will inspire to research a cool new project!

I haven't really done much travelling, though I've been to India lots of times for family trips. I plan to take quite a few trips in the next few years. I think my first trip may be to Scotland and visit some distilleries? Maybe do a wine tour in Nappa/Sonoma? If not, Rome/London (or any place with awesome culture and/or food) sound great too! I will need a travel partner!

Update: I did my first European trip in Oct 2013. I went to Paris, Versailles, London, and Cambridge (Evensong at King's College was amazing!).
I’m really good at
Math. :)

Teaching. - I like to stay connected to science so I used to teach Organic & General Chemistry to students prepping to take the MCAT/go to medical school. I guess it's more of a hobby now, but it gives me my teaching 'fix.' I haven't taught in a while, so I'm looking for a new sciency thing to do!

Cooking/Grilling/BBQ-ing (low and slow with smoke). If it involves fire, I love cooking with it! You've GOT to try my cooking, it's pretty awesome...at least I like it! Oh and recently I've started using my crockpot more, my chili and chicken tortilla soup is pretty great!

Being sociable - I don't have a hard time making friends, so I would be a good date to take a party, just sayin!

Planning things/getting stuff done!

Using spreadsheets, writing SQL...
The first things people usually notice about me
Physically, I'm broad shouldered and have "presence" in a group of people. I'm also very gregarious and outgoing so people tend to notice my personality pretty quickly.

I've been told I don't have a Texas accent even though I was born and raised here. I guess that's what happens when you learn English from Irish-Catholic nuns. I still use lots of Texas phrases: fixin', y'all, over yonder, and the occasional "howdy!"

On a typical Friday night I am
my preference is to just veg and recover from the week. i like to use the time to do some backed-up laundry along with catching up with my DVR! However, I have been coaxed out on Friday night on many occasions!

I'm really more of a fan of Saturday night! on those nights I really like to hang out with friends with good drinks/food and conversation. I prefer pubs/bars to clubs and generally prefer places that aren't too pretentious! If the joint has a dress code, I probably won't like it. But I do like to dress nice most of the time.
