I am geeky, relaxed, and quirky.

My Self-Summary

I am energetic, optimistic, and always eager to try new things; when hanging out with friends, I'm often the one organizing things to do or encouraging people to come have a good time. As far as my interests go, I'm very into politics, and I love to debate/argue/discuss. I'm also a big fan of travel, which can mean as little as walking a few blocks from your house as long as you do it with the right attitude.

What I’m doing with my life

Working in Democratic politics and trying to do all the stuff I should do (visit all 50 states, stay up on the news, and keep my apartment clean).

I’m really good at

Understanding other people's points of view, playing devil's advocate, dealing with the unexpected, travel.

The first things people usually notice about me

I'm reluctant to make the first move conversationally ;). Not shy per se, or quiet, but I assume most people want to be left alone unless they signal otherwise.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books--too many to count, but a good number of them are science fiction. I'm also a big fan of Robert Caro's LBJ biographies, anything about DC local history, and (somewhat embarassingly) Stephen King.

Movies--I don't watch all that many of them, but I like Frost/Nixon, Goodbye Lenin, and American History X, although I can only watch that last one every few years.

Music--Anything live. I'm especially fond of small local venues like DC9 or Rock and Roll Hotel, where you can see some great bands you've never heard of before that evening. I listen to a lot of indie rock, some local DC bands, and a good amount of folk. Plus a bunch of other stuff.

Food--I am a pretty lazy cook. On the other hand, I'm willing to try anything once in restaurants and such. I'm a big fan of Ethiopian.

The six things I could never do without

Politics, living in a large city, the Internet, travel, friends, public transportation

I spend a lot of time thinking about

the future. Not mine personally, but more in the sense of "what will the world look like in 20 years". Did I mention geeky?

On a typical Friday night I am

Out with friends, finding something interesting. A sampler of recent things I've done--freak show at Palace of Wonders, authentic Korean barbeque in Annandale, hanging out with some friends and watching a DVD, random house party. I'm pretty much up for anything.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I once organized a life-sized game of Risk that was held on the Navy Memorial downtown.

You should message me if

I seem interesting and you think I'd think you're interesting.
