I am palindromic, fuzzy, and cerulean.

My Self-Summary

So, first I wrote: "I like cheese, and I think profiles are silly." But OKCupid didn't accept that. So damn. Here we go:

I like stuff. Stuff includes: board games, dancing, baking, really bad tv, hosting parties to watch really bad tv, really good tv, traveling by train, listening to folk music, singing in the car, the way brown boots look with jeans, listening to people tell good stories, writing lists.

I dislike other stuff. Other stuff includes: that juice on the bottom of the plastic container pineapple comes in, being cold, overuse of parallel structure.

If you want to know about something NOT on the list, you could always, you know, message me. . .

What I’m doing with my life

I work a 9-5 job that deals with media production. I have one of those jobs that causes people to go "oh, I didn't even know that existed!" - but really, it's a normal job.

I've been settling into Cambridge for a few years now, and I have great friends here.

I’m really good at

Forgetting to finish the end of a novel, debating about pop culture, recognizing that random guest star on tv, navigating Cambridge, reading out loud.

The first things people usually notice about me

I would hope things like my thrilling use of sentence structure or that I get absurdly excited over (and will debate the merits of) things like chocolate cayenne pepper ice cream. But inevitably, they notice that I have really curly hair.

Oh, and people REALLY notice that I talk with my hands. Especially people to my right or left who accidentally get in the way. Apologies to random strangers on the subway, in bars, and at my office.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I love reading, but I'm a notoriously slow reader. Recent books that totally floored me: Octavian Nothing, The Namesake, The Time Traveler's Wife, Devil in the White City (yep, I'm a history nerd). I also really like graphic novels.

Favorite movies of all time include Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and A Few Good Men. I love both classy and trashy TV - everything from 30 Rock and How I Met Your Mother to The Wire and Deadwood.

I've been expanding my musical taste since discovering the whole iPod thing... I love Dar Williams, Ben Folds, Ingrid Michaelson and the Weepeies.

I wish I had more time to cook, and more cash to spend at farmer's markets and Whole Foods (aka Whole Paycheck). I'm a pretty adventurous eater - ask me about snails! When I cook for myself, I prefer something simple and comforting - or something with chocolate.

The six things I could never do without

1) Lists. 2) Pens. 3) A television set (not even with all the channels, they just make really good coasters) 4) Fabulous shoes. 5) Friends who will come over at midnight on a Tuesday to play a card game about bean farming. 6) Freshly baked bread.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

. . .where I want to travel next, and imagining the fun-but-not-touristy sites that I will visit. . .

. . .what new music I need to download and how I'm going to get to a concert two hours away. . .

. . .the future, and if there will be robots. . .

On a typical Friday night I am

It would seem pretty sad to me if I ever had a typical Friday night. I like it when there's a balance of dancing, karaoke-ing, drinking obscure beer, learning something crafty, watching movies, listening to folk concerts, and a healthy dose of getting lost on the way.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I watch Gossip Girl. I probably should still keep that private, huh?

You should message me if

Whatever floats your boat: if something I wrote entertains you, or if you're just plain bored.
