My self-summary
Hello, I'm just another Josh that moved to Seattle from the South/Midwest when it became too stifling.

I love exploring and talking philosophy, religion, and politics - I'm pretty strongly opinionated about those subjects and the arenas in which they meet. I love finding out about the newest scientific breakthroughs and find the universe and its possibilities to be beautiful. I guess I'm kind of optimistic about the future of the human race, against all odds. To that end, I'm a big supporter of transhumanist folks like Ray Kurzweil and Aubrey De Grey, as well as people who can vocally make science available to the masses like Bill Nye and Neil deGrasse Tyson.

Oh, hey, I'm an ordained minister. I sometimes forget. I'm an atheist, but I wanted to be able to marry my friends if they didn't want or couldn't afford a cleric. I'm officiated my best friend's wedding this summer and it was a wonderful feeling.
What I’m doing with my life
I work a lot right now. I'm involved in the electronic entertainment industry in quality assurance, so it's kind of a busy time at the moment. But hey, it means video games are my job rather than just a life-long passion.

When I have a day off, I sometimes hit the bar with my QA compadres or just do nothing. Sometimes, I even play a video game for fun. I really want to get out and explore Seattle, but I just haven't had much of a chance yet.
I’m really good at
Caring, I have a burdensome love/hate for humanity. I used to enjoy being a local stage actor and director but I haven't done anything since moving out here. I'm a cat-whisperer. I grew up with a dozen cats always hanging around, and I get their body language pretty well. I think I'm a decent thinker and speaker as well.
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes can be pretty intense, supposedly. The hair is often pretty wild by nature. And I have that spark that says, "This guy is not an NPC - he's a protagonist." ;)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski, The Zombie Survival Guide and World War Z by Max Brooks, The Prince by Niccolò Machiavelli, Le Petit Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry for that matter, stories by H. P. Lovecraft, and text books. I also like reading about the culture and people of places I've never been.

I'm a Chris Farley fan from childhood, and movies from my childhood are usually at the top of my list, no matter how bad they are. I enjoy mind-bending psychological thrillers like Memento, Bug, Identity and Inception. I really enjoy documentaries, since they are the only films that can make me cry. I'm a big fan of cult classics such as Pink Floyd The Wall and The Big Lebowski, both which are heavily drug-influenced like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and Requiem for a Dream, both of which I also adore. I'm currently soaking up as much David Lynch as I possibly can. If you've seen Delicatessen, I already like you a little bit.

I don't want to talk about music. I don't like how it influences how I feel. And I despise the industry.

Chinese and Thai food tend to top my list and I really enjoy a great Southern breakfast. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find any good breakfast spots around, but I'm content with making it myself. If it wouldn't kill me, I could eat bar food all the time.
The six things I could never do without
1. Dreams. Daydreams, nightdreams, and things yet to come.
2. Intellectual stimulation. I hope learning never ends.
3. A cause. If I'm not working towards one, I stop working.
4. Rain. It makes my brain feel fizzy, like super spicy food.
5. Laughter. They'll never be able to put it into a pill.
6. People. I hide from them sometimes, but they're so fascinating.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
A retirement of winemaking in Oregon, sex, death, politics, religion, anthropology, songs that won't leave my head, non-existent worlds, the origins of words, philosophy, new ways to improve just about anything that exists, how to extend my life to at least 700 years, etc.
On a typical Friday night I am
Trying to finish up a ridiculously long day at work, hanging out with friends in a loose drinking scenario at a bar or a home, sleeping, laughing, making others laugh, debating anything, or performing in a play. I intend to start hitting comedy clubs soon. There's little I enjoy more than a good stand-up and I have some friends back home in the craft.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I only sing when intoxicated and only dance when I'm...otherwise altered.

Also, I sometimes take myself too seriously (by accident). I usually catch it in time, though. Before I make an ass out of myself.
