My self-summary
Well I was born in Southern California in a suburb of LA called Chino Hills. I was raised by my single mom and it was always us three girls, my mom, my sister and I. I was raised being extremely close to my grandparents and aunts and uncles so I always had family around. My family is amazingly loud and caring and I miss them everyday.

When I started applying to college I wasn't quite ready to leave California so I applied for school in Socal and ended up at Loyola Marymount University in Santa Monica. There I studied Biology but discovered my passion for working and tutoring teens. After college was over I realized I no longer wanted to go to MedSchool or live in California anymore. I looked into some alternative teaching jobs and was recruited in Teach for America. My senior year I was accepted into the Chicago region teaching corps so I packed up after I graduated and moved to Illinois.

I now work as a High School Biology teacher and love living in Chicago. Can't say I don't miss the California weather, but Chicago beats L.A. in every other way.

Hope this gives you a little insight into my life and I'd be happy to fill in any details that your curious about :)
What I’m doing with my life
I am currently working as High School Biology/Special Education teacher in the northern part of Chicago. While my 9th grade students drive me crazy everyday, I love teaching them and am really enjoying my job.
I’m really good at
I'm really good at working and being friends with all types of personalities. I really enjoy getting to know all different types of people and feel that I have so much to learn from other people's perspectives.
The first things people usually notice about me
Is that I'm short! My students constantly have to pull down the projector for me or open the windows. I used to always wish I was much taller but now I've learned to embrace my 5'2 height. The best things often come in small packages don't you think?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My favorite book ever is Gone with the Wind. It's the first book I ever really read that had a strong female presence. But recently I read Perks of Being a Wall Flower and loved it. Currently I'm reading the Bell Jar, which is a tough one to get through but I'm enjoying it as a bedtime read.

I'm such a huge movie buff so there is no way I can pick just one. I love action/comic book movies but Will Ferrel is definitely my favorite actor so any comedy with him is a classic in my eyes.

Shows? I don't have much time to watch many TV shows but I do enjoy Modern Family or The Big Bang Theory.

I've been listening to a lot of folky type music lately. But I usually enjoy alternative music.

Being from Southern California I of course love Mexican Food and can make some mean Guac.
The six things I could never do without
1) Pandora
2) White Wine
3) Soft Blankets
4) Chicago sports
5) Cookie Dough
6) Caffeine
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Where I will live next/travel next.
On a typical Friday night I am
Going out for dinner and drinks with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm terrified but weirdly obsessed with sharks.
