When I started applying to college I wasn't quite ready to leave California so I applied for school in Socal and ended up at Loyola Marymount University in Santa Monica. There I studied Biology but discovered my passion for working and tutoring teens. After college was over I realized I no longer wanted to go to MedSchool or live in California anymore. I looked into some alternative teaching jobs and was recruited in Teach for America. My senior year I was accepted into the Chicago region teaching corps so I packed up after I graduated and moved to Illinois.
I now work as a High School Biology teacher and love living in Chicago. Can't say I don't miss the California weather, but Chicago beats L.A. in every other way.
Hope this gives you a little insight into my life and I'd be happy to fill in any details that your curious about :)
