TL;DR- I'm a friendly, ambitious, well-rounded guy interested in EVERYTHING short of professional non-collegiate sports & reality TV.

I've been told this is way too long. TOO BAD. To offer more detail on who I am: I'm an outdoors-loving, progressively-minded, sometimes overly logical, active 24 year old college graduate enjoying the fruits of bachelorhood....sort of. That is to say, suburbia sucks and I'm looking forward to going back to school. I enjoy reading, hiking, sailing and above all else new experiences. I love to travel- I've visited Germany twice and explored everything there is to see along the east coast.

I live a busy life which is something I'm quite content with. During any given week I put on many different hats. I'm a systems administrator by day, an emergency responder by night, and an amateur photographer/beer enthusiast on the weekends. I'd like to find someone who can appreciate my work and volunteer commitments but is worth clearing my schedule for.

I'm here to meet some new, cool, interesting people. I don't put much weight behind "what I expect from my next relationship". I very much enjoy any opportunity I get to meet someone new, learn their story, and gain additional perspective on life.

Mon-Fri I work a specialized administrative role for a small college. (I could explain it 5 million different ways, just ask). I plan to continue working for another year before heading back to school for my masters. On the side I work as an EMT for my alma mater and volunteer for both the fire department and EMS squad of my home town. I hold a leadership position with the fire department, which occupies a good share of my free time when I allow it to.

When I'm not out partaking in epic adventures (most of the time), I like to fill my time between work with frequent exercise, reading (either a good book or some fascinating but likely useless article online) and spending time with friends. (As banal as that sounds, it's pretty accurate)

Building and fixing anything mechanical/electrical. Doing a lot with a little- living like a rock star on a budget. Being sarcastic at the least appropriate of times. Making light of really shitty situations.

On a more serious note- I'm a pretty good listener and a very honest person. I don't bullshit and have a tendency for being fairly blunt.

Aside from physical attributes, I ask a lot of questions. I love a healthy inquisitive conversation, it's how we learn. Ask me anything!

Books: Typically non-fiction. My interests are always changing. I've just started reading Infinite Jest. Aside from books, I enjoy reading up on current events, mostly blogs with a few NYTimes and Huffington Post articles in between.

Movies: Office Space, Super Troopers, Harry Potter, Monty Python & The Holy Grail, The Big Lebowski, 500 Days of Summer, Garden State, The Bourne series. I very much like movies and given the time and opportunity will watch anything with a good report from Rotten Tomatoes.

TV- I don't watch a lot of TV, but when I do I watch The Daily Show, Parks and Recreation, The Colbert Report, GAME OF THRONES and Top Gear amongst others.

Music: The XX, Matt and Kim, Metric, Purity Ring, Deadmau5, Two Door Cinema Club, M83, Protest the Hero, Deathcab for Cutie, A Day to Remember. My musical interests span a large range of genres including alternative, electronic, folk, indie and metal. Additionally, I love a good movie score and am not embarrassed to say I was raised on Disney. I have little tolerance for country music, find most hip hop/pop to be obnoxious but still think some rap is decent. If you have any bands that I haven't listed but you think I might enjoy, please share! I'd be happy to do the same.

Food: All. There are very few foods I dislike. Lately I've been on a bit of a healthy binge, but I do on occasion still indulge in all the important staples: beer, pizza and ice cream.

As for drinking- I'm mostly a beer drinker with a particular fancy for wheat beers (Belgian whites, Weissbier, etc) and flavored stouts (especially coffee and chocolate stouts).

How to make the world and this country a better place to live. As a sociologist (by study, not practice), I've always been intrigued by society's problems and potential solutions especially in regards to underprivileged populations.
