I am clever, optimistic, and altruistic.
My Self-Summary
I am torn between trying to make a good impression and being
sincere. Let me start with the easy stuff. I like to be alone,
though I get along with people fine. I usually respect people by
default, until they start being stupid and irrational. I am very
intelligent, to the point of being scary (though I am also skilled
at listening, understanding others and changing my mind when I am
wrong).
I want to understand the world and become much more than I am now.
I am a transhumanist and a very dedicated and active one.
I am a manager and an economist (Ph.D.) by training.
What I’m doing with my life
The future is most important to me - the life extension, future
technologies and personal transformation. That's why I am making
sure that humankind develops the way it should. Right now it's a
mix of writing, non-profit organising work and a bit of politics.
I’m really good at
Thinking and understanding complex systems. I am also creative,
good at research. I love augmenting my intelligence and doing
cognitive enhancement.
The first things people usually notice about me
That I am cold, businesslike and intellectual.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: mostly non-fiction, since I want to LEARN, but also some
singulitarian SF. Mapping the Mind by Rita Carter, Permutation City
by Greg Egan, Reengineering the Corporation: A Manifesto for
Business Revolution by Hammer and Champi, Getting Things Done by
David Allen, Code Name Ginger by Steve Kemper, Confessions of an
Economic Hitman by John Perkins, Amusing Ourselves to Death by Neil
Postman.
Movies: K-19: The Widowmaker, The Power Of Nightmares, everything
with David Attenborough (BBC), Connections by James Burke, Space
Odyssey - Voyage to the Planets, Bounce Ko Gals (drama),
Equilibrium (sci-fi), Haibane Renmei (anime), The Revolution will
not Be Televised, Some Like It Hot, Contact, Rashomon.
Music: I am not much into music per se. I like orchestral film
scores and songs with intelligent lyrics. Some classical music
too.
Food: My body likes chocolate cakes and berries, while my brain
likes nootropics and food pills.
The six things I could never do without
1. life (that's why I need immortality) 2. my rational brain 3.
will to evolve (as a basic motivation) 4. Internet-enabled PC 5.
Getting
Things Done productivity system 6.
Alertec (modafinil)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The
future and
particularly
transhumanism.
On a typical Friday night I am
Since I work my own hours, I am usually working at my computer.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I was once wanted by
