My self-summary
I'm bad at "selling" myself.

Okay: I'm a native New Yorker. I have a degree in archaeology and a degree in English literature. I love science and history.

I try to be laid-back as often as possible. Kinda cynical, kinda optimistic. Hopeless romantic. Witty and sarcastic. Lover of Chucks, coffee, and superheroes. I'm very happy in a t-shirt and hoodie, but can rock a cardigan and bow tie when the chips are down.

Glitter kinda freaks me out. The smell of sun block makes me ill.

I am funny, creative, and loyal. Since it's a thing now, I'm an ISTJ.

I've recently "come out" as asexual. In hindsight, it makes so much sense. I wish it was something I had been aware of when I was much younger. That being said, I'd like to find someone who is interested in a heteromantic platonic relationship.
What I’m doing with my life
Working in the marketing department of a small publishing company that specializes in children's nonfiction. I'm kinda on the IS side of things, dealing with metadata most of the time.

I also write. I've had some things published. I blog about movies, TV shows, and comics.

I'm a storyteller.
I’m really good at
...knowing stuff. It sounds weird, I know, but I know a lot of weird stuff. I'm pretty good at Jeopardy and Trivial Pursuit. I'm the guy my friends call when they need to know the names of the old guys on The Muppet Show or the name of an actor in an obscure TV show from the '80s.
The first things people usually notice about me
That I am a big white dude? The red beard maybe. If there's a crowd, that I'm on the edge of it, out of the way.

When I don't have my glasses on, I get my fair share of compliments on my eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favorite Books: I enjoy the classics: Dickens, Austen, the Brontes, Shakespeare, etc. In terms of modern fiction, I tend to read mysteries, thrillers, and sci-fi/fantasy. I like YA fiction because it can get away with stories about wizards and spies and no one seems to mind. I like comic books.

Favorite Movies: A lot. I love movies of all kinds as long as they are fun and tell an interesting story. Some favorites include: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Disney movies, The Thin Man, and the Marvel superhero movies.

Favorite TV Shows: My taste in TV reflects my taste in books and movies. Tell me a fun story with interesting characters. I love a lot of "classic" TV shows and rewatch a lot of them online. Some modern/current faves: Leverage, Doctor Who, The Flash, Warehouse 13, Parks & Rec, The Big Bang Theory, and Agents of SHIELD.

Favorite Music: I'm not really a big music fan. I mean, I like music, who doesn't? But, I don't listen to the radio much and tend to miss a lot of current music. I do love Taylor Swift and I'm not ashamed to admit it. If I had to pick a genre of music, I'd say my favorite is classic rock.

Favorite Food: Simple stuff like pizza, burgers, tacos, etc. I'm not afraid to try new stuff.
The six things I could never do without

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Movies, comic books, science, robots, zombies, monkeys, ninjas, robot-ninjas, monkey-zombies.

More recently: How does one go about finding an asexual relationship?
On a typical Friday night I am
Usually unwinding with a Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime. Of course, I'd never say no to a drink with an engaging young woman. Just sayin'.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have social anxiety. It makes meeting new people difficult. It gets easier when I know you...but it can still be a hurdle. I'm working on it. In theory, I'd like to operate a little bit out of my comfort zone, but it isn't easy.
You should message me if
You're intelligent, geeky, dorky and maybe a little socially awkward. Or, at the very least, don't mind those qualities in another person.

If you think bow ties are cool.
