I am redheaded, mildly intoxicated, and perturbed.

My Self-Summary

I'm in a band. We play cosmic southern stoner soul. I write a lot of short stories set in, fictional, Prichard Co. KY and a lot involving a zero-distance narrator named Charlie. I also try and think up good TV shows. I go to UK. I own a pair of Stringray Boots. I've been described as "mountain" even though I'm a generation and a half removed from Appalachia. I have 8 tattoos, I want more. Sometimes I braid my hair like Willie Nelson. I'm a very active member of Kentuckians For The Commonwealth.

What I’m doing with my life

Steadfastly believing that writing for a living is better than getting a real job or cancer.

I’m really good at

Making shit up. This includes stories, poems, songs, opinions, lies about my general level of sobriety.

The first things people usually notice about me

Long curly red hair, a fu-manchu, bigass tattoos on my forearms (Cowgirl w/ a flying V on the left, Johnny Cash on the right), the fact that, for practical reasons relating to my hair's length and unwieldiness, I usually wear a bandanna

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Holidays in Hell, Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72, A Man Without a Country, Kingdom of Fear, The Rolling Stone 25th anniversary bigass book, The Natural Man, Catch-22, Just about anything Kerouac, A lot of Bukowski, All the King's Men, As I Lay Dying, Riders of the Purple Sage, Kinfolks, The "Shel Silverstein around the World" book and a bunch others...I'm a literature geek

Movies: Almost Famous, Grand Theft Parsons, The Searchers, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Walk The Line, Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, Smokey and the Bandit, The Killer, The Manchurian Candidate(the original one with Laurence Harvey and Frank Sinatra), Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, A Dirty Shame, Dr. Strangelove, Full Metal Jacket is a quotable guilty pleasure

Music(at least some of it): Drive-By-Truckers, Rolling Stones, Allman Brothers Band, Otis Redding, Willie, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash, Gram Parsons (mostly with Emmylou and the Fallen Angels, but I like the Flying Burrito Brothers), Townes Van Zandt, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Shooter Jennings, Miranda Lambert, Randy Travis, David Alan by-god-white-trash Coe, Allison Krauss, Uncle Tupelo, Dylan, Led Zep, Al Green, Neil Young, Jeff Buckley Frank Zappa, Tom Waits, No River City, The Bottle Rockets, Fiona Apple from time to time, The Pogues, For a while I listened to Television's "Marquee Moon" a whole lot, The list is starting to get pretty random now...soo... Hard country, Alt. Country, Classic Rock, a little punk, I'm sort of a music geek (top 5 albums: Exile on Main Street, Cash at Folsom, Southern Rock Opera, Allmans Live at the Fillmore East, Skynyrd's First)

Favorite Foods: Fried pork tenderloin with gravy and maybe a biscuit. Home fried chicken with hot sauce. Red Velvet cake.

The six things I could never do without

Whiskey, Gin, Dry Vermouth, Sweet Vermouth, Cigarettes

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Writing shit

On a typical Friday night I am

Pleasantly inebriated and typically verbose

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm a complete magazine junkie. I usually manage to read Newsweek, Rolling Stone, Playboy, Guns N' Ammo, the NYT Sunday Magazine, Esquire and The UK Alumni newsletter and, if I get really bored and it's lying around, Oprah's magazine.

You should message me if

You ever thought Rhett Butler was charming.
