My self-summary
I'm a very weird mish-mash of a person. On the one hand, I can come across as a very no-nonsense, just-the-facts-ma'am kind of guy, super straight laced with eyes on the prize and typical Southern White Boy personality. On the other, I tend to like a LOT of things that are atypical of what society says I should like based on how I look. Religiously, I'm Wiccan. Politically, I'm non-militant Anarchist. I tend to be very, VERY laid back and accepting about people I meet, trying to understand the other person's point of view as closely as possible (sometimes to my detriment, even). And I tend to get excited around new people I like easily.

I tend to think about the future constantly, whether that's about where we're likely to be in 10 years to the far future I'll never see. I like to dream about different things and create worlds in my own mind.

And I like pie. But then, who doesn't?

I enjoy talking about almost anything, from history and philosophy to video games and Star Wars to cats and birds. Try talking to me about stuff; even if I'm not familiar, I'll probably be interested to learn more about it if you have the time and inclination to explain.

In terms of what I do, I like watching a variety of shows on the Internet, playing games of all kinds (video-, card-, dice-, sport, board-, whatever), going to eat at restaurants with friends, going shopping with friends, exploring down unknown roads with my car (and GPS to get home with), working out (weight and resistance training, mostly), and just about anything suggested to me by friends at the time if I'm not doing anything else right then.

I seek to learn as much about everything as I can, though I tend not to be an expert in anything as a result. I know how lucky my life has been up to this point, so I try to be thankful for all that I have and all the awesome people with me now.

Making others happy tends to make *me* happy, and when others around me are upset, it makes me upset. Happy > Upset, so I strive to make everyone around me happy when I can and whatever way I find that'll do it fastest.

And finally, I tend to try to be humorous, as humor helps make people happy faster when it works. I'm not necessarily *good* at it, but I try. Oh, do I try!!
What I’m doing with my life
I now own my own home (love our crazy language and the fact that sentence makes sense) and am renting our various rooms of it to friends of mine. Just recently replaced the old front door with a nice new one and got some new laundry machines that are dead or dying. Upgrades are fun!

Also back in Toastmasters on Thursdays after a long hiatus (non-profit group dedicated to teaching public speaking and leadership skills). And I'm back being the Sergeant at Arms, too, which I like because setting up the room before meetings is a great "zen" activity for me to do while I unwind from work stress. Plus, the point after the meeting where we all go to a local mexican place to eat and hang out is always fun :)

Otherwise, working as a consultant DBA, trying desperately to get certified as one so I can earn higher pay for the same work I do (I *suck* at tests, and each time I take it costs money). Also just hanging out with friends and bumming around when not doing anything else.
I’m really good at
Understanding and empathizing/sympathizing with people. In fact, it's what I strive for whenever I converse with people: understanding where they're coming from and putting myself in their shoes so they can relax more while talking to me.

I'm also good at saying it like it is and giving advice when others present their problems for me to solve...though convincing people to actually follow said advice is another matter. I'm also good at just sitting there and shutting up when people need to vent. It's all a matter of what people need from me at that time.

Finally, I'm really good at being both patient and persistent (read: stubborn like a bull). It's the foundation of most of my success in life, though I try to focus it on tasks and things rather then people. Wouldn't give it up for all the tea in China!
The first things people usually notice about me
How pale I am. I've never tanned, despite constantly going to the beach growing up. I just come back lobster-colored, so not I just slather on the sunscreen and wear shirts when I'm not bodysurfing/swimming.

The next physical thing people notice is that my eyes change color. They've been everything from blue to green to (according to others) purple, though I've looked every time and never seen that last one.

The last thing they tend to notice is that I tend to defy their expectations based on appearance. A lot of people have said they're surprised that I like the things I do considering how I look and hold myself. So I'm a walking contradiction, yay!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
a) I just love books in general. A family trait, especially since my dad was a self-professed bibliophile. Anything of good quality you put in front of me - non-fiction, mystery, sci-fi, fantasy, romance, whatever - I'll probably like reading through it if its writing is interesting enough.

b) After a LONG hiatus from the movie watching scene, I'm finally willing to go out and watch movies and rent videos. Don't know why I stopped, probably because I didn't have enough money for those and video games, and given the choice, it's no contest that VGs would win. Still don't like horror/thriller movies, though, and movies with "pointlessly downer" or "stupidly downer" endings leave me hating them, too, but I'll generally watch anything else if it's good.

c) Tons of internet shows out there, WAY too many to list completely, but here are a few I'm watching now: Nostalgia Critic, Atop The Fourth Wall, Death Battle, Dragon Ball Z Abridged, Vsauce, MinutePhysics, CGPGrey, Extra Credits and Jimquisition.

d) Nightwish if my favorite band, hands down. Only band I've ever been to a show for, and they will remain so until the end of time. So that makes me a...classical...punk rock...fan? Otherwise, I like just about anything - my playlist has video game music (and I mean mp3 loops of acutal game music, not just remixes), rap, jazz, 90s pop, and some rare country songs among others - in general, whatever's currently playing is what I like.

e) Eel sushi. Also chocolate and pizza. And steak and pasta and seafood and...lots of stuff, really. The only things I don't like and will not eat are things with lettuce in them, and type (hence why I consider "nutrition" to be such a big deal for me: nobody offers good non-lettuce salads at restaurants). If I haven't tried it before, then so long as someone else can be there to show me good stuff (and/or share the pain), I'll be game to try it.

f) As for games, I have so many I like, but these are the ones that are in my short list to play again and talk your ear off on: Quest For Glory, Zelda, Space Quest, Myst, Broken Sword, Xenogears,Chrono Trigger,Armored Core,C&C Red Alert 2, and F.E.A.R.

Otherwise, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, I like just about anything, from Tetris to Sims Mario to Sonic to Infinity and Beyond! I've gotten a Wii U recently and am slowly adapting to the fact I now have friends who like to play games, too, so I'm starting to get into local multiplayer...?
The six things I could never do without
My Imagination, Awesome People (like My Friends), A Source of Near Limitless Knowledge and Humor (The Internet), Cats, Entertaining Objects (books, games, etc), My Pet Genie who Made It All Happen (note: I am your secret puppet-master overlord, BOW TO ME!!).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Anything that pops into my head

Seriously, my imagination is usually where I'm at if I'm not actively doing something. I can entertain myself quite well, so I'm never bored (though being with others is usually much more interesting and lends fuel for later).

When not in some fantastic realm of my own creation, I'm usually thinking of the latest youtube video that I've seen recently, or about the most recent game I've played, or what my friends are up to. If I'm in the mood to be serious minded, I think about the world's state of affairs, business and finances, science, philosophy, history, religion...any number of things.

And how hugely, mind-bogglingly big space is, and how the walk down to the pharmacist is peanuts compared to space...

So big that a disc-shaped planet on four giant elephants on top of a turtle is probably hurtling through it right now...

Or a space station the size of a moon with a stupidly small weak spot perfect for fighter-class torpedoes to be sucked into...

Or about humanity's future generations from now when we meet logically minded pacifist aliens and courageously travel to new places never seen before...

And strawberry cheesecake. Mmmm, cheesecake!
On a typical Friday night I am
Working all day, then playing all night, assuming I'm not exhausted. Evenings are when I'm either on here looking around, surfing youtube for fun videos, or playing a game or two (would be three if I could just learn to use my feet effectively...). I also do tabletop gaming when my friends are able to meet, though of course, life can get in the way of that. Since I'm a nightowl, I tend to be up past midnight even when work tires me out, so mornings are ALWAYS fun -_-;
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
When I was 22, I went to get another new social security card after losing my old one at the bottom of a lake. They kept giving me funny looks and asking if I really was who I claimed, and I kept having to assure them yes. Finally, they called out a supervisor, who explained that, and I quote: "Apparently, we have a small error in your information: we have you down as female." My IMMEDIATE response (without missing a beat I'm proud to admit): "Wow, so I've been impersonating a woman for the last 20 years! That explains so much!"

Did I mention I can laugh at almost ANYthing...?
You should message me if
You live nearby, are interested in meeting me (online and eventually in person), and have the guts to go down the mad mad rabbit hole that is my universe. I'm always interested in new friends, and all are welcome under my roof.

About sexual stuff: though I'm willing to do one-night stands, it's not my first preference by any means. I much prefer "friends with benefits", as I'd rather have friends then the benefits, and knowing the person I'm in bed with makes it way more fun.
