My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Well, I'm basically a very weird person. I enjoy talking about anything, from politics and philosophy to video games and Star Wars to baseball and football to cats and birds. Try talking to me about stuff; even if I'm not familiar, I'll enjoy learning about it! In terms of what I do, I like watching a variety of shows on the Internet, playing games of all kinds (video-, card-, dice-, sport, board-, etc), going to eat at restaurants with friends, going shopping with friends, exploring down unknown roads with my car (and GPS to get home with), working out (resistance training, mostly), and generally whatever my friends come up with to do, though I'm often the one choosing what to do and where to go.

I try to relax about life, but I also tend to look at the future and wonder at what's to come. I seek to learn as much about everything as I can, though I tend not to be an expert in anything as a result. I know how lucky my life has been up to this point, so I try to be thankful for all that I have and all the awesome people with me now!

I tend to try to go out of my way to help people. I'm the main coordinator and host for my friends' D&D group, help others without a second thought (though I will deliberate depending on what's asked), and try to give as much as I can. Making others happy tends to make me happy, and when others around me are upset, it makes me upset. Happy > Upset, so I strive to make everyone around me happy when I can.

And finally, I tend to try to be humorous, as humor helps make people happy faster when it works. So I'll often either use farce, parody, puns, or whatever else I can to do humor. This is not to say I always SUCCEED at being funny ("I don't get it" or confused silence abounds with me) but at least I try!!
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
June 2013:
And BOOM goes my huge-ass profile!

So yeah, just started cleaning this whole thing up, as it's not YEARS out of date. Honestly need to get a new photo taken, too, as my hair is a LOT longer now (almost shoulder length); people say it makes me look less severe in feature, and more approachable. Plus it saves money on haircuts, so yay :-P

So LOTS going on with my life. Just got my first house back in January! Awesome place, but I have big plans to improve upon it. I am a fan of The Sims and similar games, and after a YEAR of looking at houses before this one, I've got some ideas for improvements...>:)

But before I can improve, I need money. And to that end, I'm looking for a new job somewhere in Atlanta. Hopefully, I can land a DBA position, as that's what I love doing (I'd go for management, as I love it even more, but not quite at that level yet). Here's hoping I can move that salary bar up soon!

Got a new car, too. My old Pontiac bit the dust, sadly (take my eyes away for one second...), so I went and got a nice new Hyundai GT Hatchback with all the trimmings. Lots of fun to drive, and I hope to have it paid off early next year.

Those are the big things right now...on smaller items: I've been considering going back to Toastmasters recently, as I miss being behind the lectern Thursday evenings. Unfortunately, work's leaving me too drained to consider it and I leave work too late to make meetings, so have to postpone that for now. Ah well. Teaching myself self-working magic tricks will have to do for now...
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Thanks to Toastmasters, being placed in a lead role at work and years of theater lessons, I've learned that I can be a very effective leader both in business and in life, and that I'm a very good listener when my Auditory Processing Disorder doesn't act up (usually over the phone).

I'm good at understanding and empathizing with people. In fact, it's what I strive for whenever I converse with people: understanding where they're coming from and putting myself in their shoes.

I'm a realist: hope for the best, plan for the worst. I'm pretty good at keeping a schedule and managing my time effectively, though thanks to how friends of mine can be, I've also learned to be flexibly spontaneous, too.

I'm always excited to learn new things, and I like trying new things out whenever I get the chance. If people need help determining what they want to do, I'm good at coming up with stuff, and even picking things out if they're still stuck.

I'm also good at saying it like it is and giving advice when others present their problems for me to solve. I'm also good at just sitting there and showing sympathy when people need to vent. It's all a matter of what people need from me at that time.

Finally, I'm really good at being both patient and persistent (read: stubborn like a bull). It's the foundation of most of my skills above. It's how I got through some of the tougher moments in my life, and I would not give that up for all the tea in China!
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
How pale I am. I've never tanned, despite constantly going to the beach. I just come back lobster-colored, so not I just slather on the sunscreen and wear shirts when I'm not bodysurfing/swimming.

The next physical thing people notice is that my eyes change color. They've been everything from blue to green to purple (according to others on the last one, anyway: I keep looking in the mirror, but I never see it!)

The last thing they tend to notice is that I tend to defy their expectations based on appearance. A lot of people have said they're surprised that I do and say the things I do, as it conflicts with what I look like. So I'm a walking contradiction, yay!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
a) I just love books in general. A family trait, especially since my dad was a self-professed bibliophile. Anything of good quality you put in front of me - non-fiction, mystery, sci-fi, fantasy, romance, whatever - I'll probably like reading through it.

b) After a LONG hiatus from the movie watching scene, I'm finally willing to go out and watch movies and rent videos. Don't know why I stopped, probably because I didn't have enough money for those and video games, and given the choice, it's no contest that VGs would win. Still don't like horror/thriller movies, though, and movies with "pointlessly downer" or "stupidly downer" endings leave me hating them, too.

To try to explain: the former are where all the work and suffering the main protagonists went through goes to waste, leaving them with absolutely nothing, or even worse then when they started, and leaving the antagonist either with no effect or better off then before (There's enough of that in my current reality, thanks). The latter is similar, except on reflection, a very easy or obvious solution could be found to avoid that situation (i.e. "Instead of holding the grenade and rushing the enemy in a suicide charge, why didn't the trained soldier *throw* the grenade at them?")

c) Tons of internet shows out there, WAY too many to list completely, but here are a few I'm watching now: Nostalgia Critic, Atop The Fourth Wall, Death Battle, Dragon Ball Z Abridged, Vsauce, MinutePhysics, CGPGrey, Extra Credits and Jimquisition.

d) Nightwish if my favorite band, hands down. Only band I've ever been to a show for, and they will remain so until the end of time. Otherwise, I like just about anything - my playlist has video game music (and I mean mp3 loops, not just remixes), Disturbed, Cascada, AFI, and various jazz tracks among others - so in general, whatever's playing is what I like.

e) Eel sushi. Also chocolate and pizza. And steak and pasta and seafood and...lots of stuff, really. The only things I don't like and will not eat are things with lettuce in them (hence why I consider "nutrition" to be such a big deal for me: nobody offers good non-lettuce salads). If I haven't tried it before, then so long as someone else can be there to show me good stuff (and/or share the pain), I'll be game to try it.

f) As for games: Quest For Glory, the Paladins there are the best examples of Paladins I've ever seen. I also love Zelda, Space Quest and Broken Sword, as Roger, Link and George are my childhood heroes (What I Thought I Would Be, What I Wanted To Be, What I Realized I Could Be).

Otherwise, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, I like just about anything, from Tetris to Sims to X-com to Halo to Mario to Sonic to Need For Speed to Infinity and Beyond! Not much into multiplayer (never had people to play with growing up, so don't think about buying them when I go looking, and online competitions are too impersonal for me), but I'm willing to play it if people put it into one of my systems.

And on that note, I'll put this here:

What kind of Hero Are You?

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My Imagination, Awesome People (like My Friends), A Source of Near Limitless Knowledge and Humor (The Internet), Cats, Entertaining Objects (books, games, etc), My Pet Genie who Made It All Happen (note: I am your secret puppet-master overlord, BOW TO ME!!).

...

Oh, and maybe food, air, and water, too...though even without those, at least I'd die happy (not screaming like my passengers...:-P)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Anything that pops into my head

Seriously, my imagination is usually where I'm at if I'm not actively doing something. I can entertain myself quite well, so I'm never bored (though when I'm with others, I'm never bored anyway).

If my imagination is busted, then I'm usually thinking of the latest humor site or webcomic that I've seen recently, or about the most recent game I've played, or what my friends and girlfriend are up to. If I'm in the mood to be serious minded, I think about the world's state of affairs, business and finances, science, philosophy, history, religion...any number of things.

And how hugely, mind-bogglingly big space is, and how the walk down to the pharmacist is peanuts compared to space...

So big that a disc-shaped planet on four giant elephants on top of a turtle is probably hurtling through it right now...

As well as a moon^?^?^?^?stupidly huge space station with a stupidly small weak spot perfect for fighter-class torpedoes to be sucked into...

Which is probably traveling to blow up a volcanic planet with a bunch of logically minded pacifist aliens with fetishes for pinching nerve clusters to make problems go away...

And how nobody I've met is able to play a Paladin right and how it drives me up the wall because it's so simple here let me lay it out for you you've got a few hours to spare while I talk right ok so...

And strawberry cheesecake. Mmmm, cheesecake!
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Working all day, then playing all night. Evenings are when I'm on here chatting and surfing, or playing a game or two (would be three if I could just learn to use my feet effectively...). Since I'm a nightowl, I tend to be up past midnight even when work tires me out, so mornings are ALWAYS fun -_-;
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
When I was 22, I went to get another new social security card after losing my old one at the bottom of a lake. They kept giving me funny looks and asking if I really was who I claimed, and I kept having to assure them yes. Finally, they called out a supervisor, who explained that, and I quote: "Apparently, we have a small error in your information: we have you down as female." My IMMEDIATE response (without missing a beat I'm proud to admit): "Wow, so I've been impersonating a woman for the last 20 years! That explains so much!"

Did I mention I can laugh and make humor at almost ANYthing...?

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You live nearby, are interested in meeting me (online and eventually in person), and have the guts to go down the mad mad rabbit hole that is my universe. I'm always interested in new friends, and and all are welcome under my roof.

For those wondering about my status and the "Casual Sex" bit above: My girlfriend (yes I have one) and i are in a polyamorous relationship. That means that while we're committed to each other for dating, living together, etc, we're still allowing each other to have sex with others. So yeah, I'm still available for bed sport, though my heart belongs ultimately belongs to her.

Though I'm willing to do one-night stands (it's fun to do and a great way to relax) it's not my first preference. I much prefer "friends with benefits", as I'd rather have friends then the benefits, and knowing the person I'm in bed with makes it way more fun. So you could say that I like having my friendly cheesecake and eating it, toooook JUST realized what I wrote there, but I'm leaving it since I think it's funny (and as a demo of my humor :)
