My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hi my name is Darren, I am new to this so please bear with me.
So first let me say I find writing a self summary, especially one that will not put a sane person to sleep, a very hard thing to write. So please be kind :P.
I have recently moved from Victoria to Courtenay to be closer to my family but in doing so left some dear friends behind. I used to be quite athletic inclined but due to some medical issues have had to slow down a bit. I have lived in the Pacific Northwest my entire life and can't picture living anywhere else. On that note I would love to travel someday, perhaps Europe, New Zealand or the Maritimes.
I enjoy Walks, Hiking, I love kayaking though I have not paddled in years. Being surrounded by nature as much as possible and leaving a small foot print has been a life long goal.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Just trying to enjoy it!
As I am clearly not going to live the life I chosen when I was a 8 year old boy I have been constantly changing my ways in a subtle way to maybe reflect on new influences, but I find as I "grow-up" (a term I have never been fond of) it seems as long as I have the ability to learn something new, I will be happy.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I am quite tech literate and have been told I should start a business to work on computers, but to me it is really only just a hobbie. I love to work with my hands and solve problems, so they sometimes work together.
Procrastination, I was a world class procrastinator. Fully trained but I never got around to taking the certification exam.
As you can see humour is not a strong point but I have no problem making fun of myself to make others laugh.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have been told my eyes, but don't we all think that?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Most of my favourite books are sci-fi related but not exclusive by any means.
I am a huge fan of Canadian writers such as Jack Whyte and especially Robert J. Sawyer.
I have been a star trek fan since "next generation", really enjoyed the reimagined "battlestar galactica" as well as the to short lived series "firefly". Then there's "House", love that guy. Laugh my ass of watching "Wipeout", and "The Big Bang Theory", and recently became a "American Idol" fan.
With Music I am all over the board.
Canadian classic rock such as "Red Rider" and "Rush" with some Progress "Pink Floyd", mix in some "Van Halen" and "AC/DC" from highschool and some more modern "Tool", "The New Pornographers" "Jack Johnson" and "Enya" to mellow out. Just for a start.

I love to cook and am pretty good at it, but dislike cooking for myself. I love food and have always had an interest in new things. After I left my Coffee snob and Tea snob phase behind I tried the Wine snob phase for a bit as well, love red.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Tea in the morning.
My computer.
My friends and Family.
Some form of chocolate.
Something to read.
A good Hockey Game.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
As I am in sort of a rebuilding stage, I find myself pondering lives curveballs, How much of a sense of humour does Mother nature really have? and what can I do to help.
