Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
The name's Kevin - I'm just your friendly, non-local bearded
After living in the States for the past decade plus, I'm back home*
for three months (late August to end of November) to see family,
hopefully work a bit and meet a few people.
*Although I've lived in Seattle for what is now the longer half of
my life, to quote the old QANTAS ad, "I still call Australia
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Seeing family and trying to have a bit of fun while I work on a few
At some point in the next two years I need to decide whether I want
to stay in the US as my green card expires at the end of 2017
(current answer: definitely maybe).
To that end, I guess I'm also sortof trialing adulthood in
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm a little like the old English all-rounder - passable at many
things, excellent at nothing.
Except I suppose I am excellent at failing to practice guitar.
Thankfully less excellent at failing to practice my purdy new bass
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Facial hair. Be it the beard (most often), or for shits and giggles
one time, the 'stache.
If you mustache me a question about facial hair...my eyes will
probably start to glaze over, so please no.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I own way too many books. I haven't read as much as I'd like
lately, but some favourites (recent or otherwise) include: 'A Naked
Singularity' by Sergio de la Pava, almost anything by Jessica
Hagedorn or James Baldwin...
The Cornetto trilogy, Pan's Labyrinth, Monty Python (Holy Grail,
Life of Brian, Meaning of Life, etc)...still have a soft spot for
the old Beverly Hills Cop movies...
Community, Parks & Rec, 30 Rock, Game of Thrones, The Wire
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, The Living End, Cold Chisel, Steve
Earle and Midnight Oil probably round out the top five playlist
staples, but I'll listen to almost anything.
Bonus points go to bluesy/rockin' guitar, identifiable lyrics
and/or sweet bass lines.
Mates' bands - Po' Brothers, Blood Drugs, Kingswood Estate,
Dinuguan FTW. I'll eat most things, but prefer savory over sweet.
Also don't mind vegetarian food, but I'm not about to be vegetarian
myself - pretty much all my favourite dishes involve meat.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Up until August, the main thing occupying my mind was quitting my
crap cube monkey job and getting something better. With money in
the bank, the former's done - working on the latter.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Out at a show, grabbing a few beers with decent people or kicking
back with some unfocused combination of books, my laptop and
Netflix/Hulu streaming through ye olde 360.
