What I’m doing with my life
I've always been an autodidact and an inventor.

I'm self-employed where I design, build and sell electronic power measurement equipment to a worldwide alternative energy market. This work is very satisfying for me as I love to make new things, help care for the environment and meet new people. I love the freedom that comes with self-employment. It allows me to make a living and pursue my dreams. I'm constantly learning along the way.

I'm also volunteering with a local makerspace. I am a core member and I'm helping to organize the group and also teaching classes about electronics and computer programming. This is very fulfilling for me because I like to share my knowledge and skills with others and make cool things.

I'm also learning more Spanish. I find the Spanish language so very interesting. It amazes me at every turn. The more I learn, the more I love it. Latin music and culture are so fantastically rich and vibrant it makes me jump out of my chair and start dancing and singing.
I’m really good at
Making funny voices, sound effects and unknown foreign accents. Being silly and playful with the people I love.

I am also a pretty good cook but you better like Mexican food because I have a particular proclivity to cooking such dishes. I mean real, authentic, rib-sticking Mexican food. The kind you would get in a small village there.

MUSIC
Okay, for now, this what I have been listening to each day for more than two weeks. I love this concert! I so want to see them live!

Also, this is one of my favorite songs and I must see this band live someday! (amazing concert in this video, even though it is staged for the video as I can tell from the making-of video):

TV/MOVIES
For other entertainment, I watch Hulu or Netflix. I usually lean towards comedies or documentaries. I am not really into violence or gory stuff. I think that reality shows are usually pretty dumb.

I seldom watch the news or read newspapers. It is too depressing and I loathe being lied to. I am not really missing much anyway as my friends fill me in on the big stuff. Like, "Hey, pretty sad about the tsunami, huh?"

I am not really into sports of any kind. Super big yawn for me. I will watch the Superbowl occasionally just to see the funny commercials or the performances. However, I couldn't care less for the game. Most of it is just too macho for me. My team is better than yours, blah, blah, blah. I understand it but it is just not for me.

I stayed with my mother for six weeks starting last October while helping her recover from knee replacement surgery. I watched a bunch of TV (including the news) there. I think I had enough for my lifetime then. Ugh!

FOOD
I cook all of my own meals from scratch except the occasional seasoned rice package. I still haven't found the perfect Cuban black bean and rice recipe. *sigh* UPDATE: I learned that what I want is called Moros y Christianos. Getting closer to making this! :-)

I try to eat healthily. Preparing food is not a chore for me. I love to cook! You won't find ice cream in my freezer or packaged foods in my cupboards. I don't eat a lot of sweets. I like chocolate but prefer 75% cacao or higher because it has less sugar and more chocolate.

When I snack, it's either fruit, nuts or something at least slightly healthy. I believe that it starts at the grocery store. I don't grocery shop hungry. If I don't buy it, I won't eat it. Right?

I do like to eat out on occasion just not Mexican. Mine is way better! I do like Quality Burrito(a restaurant in Olympia) though. They kind of got their own thing going on.

Besides Mexican food, I have a thing for spaghetti. I also love a good salad. Oh, great! I just made myself hungry.

BOOKS
The books I read are mainly technical in nature. Novels tend to bore me pretty fast and I never finish them. I also love a good cookbook. Also, art books can be fun I just don't have many.

I usually read what I need online these days. I find the screen easier to read than on paper anyway.
The six things I could never do without
Not in any particular order:

Laughter
Honest communication
Affection
Friends
Autonomy
The sixth thing
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Dancing more. Singing more. Sewing more. Creating more. More, more, more! :-)
On a typical Friday night I am
... wondering how it got to be Friday again so soon.

My Friday's are never "typical".
