Moved to Austin 10 years ago from the Boston area and I love it down here. Would love to meet someone who enjoys the same things as myself. (see Interests)
If there's one thing I've learned, it's that I need to find someone who can be a friend first and foremost. Obviously we all want more than that, but if you don't have the friendship, there's really not much of a future. That being said, let's be honest, you also have to have that initial physical attraction to each other. I think I have a pretty good idea of what I'm looking for, and I hope you do as well.
I'm not one of those guys that's going to hound and harass you because you don't respond to my email. If you don't respond I figure there's a reason...you know what you're looking for, and I may not be it. That's the way it should work.
I do have 2 daughters (13 and 15) who live with me part-time. They are my world, and always have to come first. I feel so lucky to have them.
Anyway, I'd like to find someone who is into getting out and discovering Austin (and the Hill Country). Someone who loves to go for a hike, a swim, do some some trail riding (On a bike) or kayaking...or even just take a walk around Town Lake.
I'm not so much into hitting the bars just for the sake of hitting the bars. I do love seeing live music, sitting outside on a patio in the shade enjoying a drink or hitting the occasional happy hour. I'm just not into spending a night in some crowded bar. Just not my idea of fun.
I'm really laid back and casual and I try not to take myself too seriously.
If any of this sounds interesting to you, you know where to find me. :)
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to live everyday to the fullest and have no regrets. Still
not sure what I want to be when I grow up.
I’m really good at
Procrastinating...seriously. I'm also a superstar dad. Just ask my
girls. Though they may be biased since I give them chocolate.
The first things people usually notice about me
Based on the feedback I've gotten, my eyes and smile, but I'd like
to think my dry sense of humor kicks in soon after. Guess that
depends if we actually speak to each other though.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books...I'd like to impress everyone with my literary knowledge,
but honestly I like to read books by people like James Patterson
and Dean Koontz. Though I have been thinking of going back and
reading some of the classics that we were all forced to read in
school. Just to see if I would enjoy them a lot more this time
around. An I do take suggestions as well. Movies for me are an
escape as well, and I love to laugh. Anything by Judd Apatow
usually has me laughing my ass off. That being said I love all the
Jason Bourne movies too. And usually like anything with Robert
Downey Jr in it. I do enjoy my TV, and I love most shows on Nat Geo
and The Science Channel. And also Anthony Bourdain's No
Reservations and The Layover. Other favorites are NCIS, Elementary,
Person of Interest, Modern Family, Big Bang Theory. My musical
taste is pretty varied, but doesn't include country. My favorite
band of all time is Pavement. All my favorite music seems to be
from a period in the early-mid 90s while I was in Boston seeing
tons of shows and buying all kinds of CDs. Love bands like Sebadoh,
Dinosaur Jr, Yo La Tengo. As far more recent music, I like to
listen to Cake, Spoon, the White Stripes, Raconteurs to name a few.
And the new Jack White is just amazing. Also, I'm more of a SXSW
person than ACL. Just seem to enjoy the smaller venues and the
whole atmosphere more. Food: Italian will always be my favorite,
but I have learned to love Mexican cuisine since moving to Austin.
And HomeSlice is a must.
The six things I could never do without
the smell of coffee brewing
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The universe and how it came about and continues to evolve. And
also string theory and the endless possibilities that brings. I'm a
big geek when it comes to that. Not that I always understand all of
it. Guess that's why I think about it so much.
On a typical Friday night I am
Well, tonight is Friday and I'm hanging/playing/laughing with my
kids. Every other weekend I'm usually hanging out at home or with
friends at someone's house, happy hour, or at the Alamo.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
That I know most of the words to all 3 High School Musical movies... Did I mention I actually like Wizards of Waverly Place? So stupid funny. Have I revealed too much? Update...this list has changed...I now know all the words to most Taylor Swift songs and loved watching Good Luck Charlie and iCarly with my little ones...and sometimes even without them. So sad that they are both off the air now.
You should message me if
Anything that I've said above is of any interest to you. I'm really
easy going, and I would love to find someone to connect with where
we can both just be ourselves and not worry about trying to be
something we're not.
