My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Divorced just over a year. I am seeing a lady regularly. I am "Available," as a friend, drinking partner, record-shopping partner, biking-and-hiking partner, FWB or an on-the-side guy.

I try to be a fun, easy-going guy and used to save the heavy stuff for my therapist, but I broke up with him, because I had to be in control of something.

I found it much easier to write stuff in the food/music/books/movies section than this one. I'll keep at it.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Avoiding ablative behavior, when I can. I'm getting better at it. (I think I made up the term "ablative behavior!")

Working and over-using hyphens, whatever that means. Keeping my shoulders back, back straight and chin up. Posture. Wearing solid shoes to work. Solid footing on solid ground. As a rock.

The fixie is going away, but my buddy Kevin built me The Centurion, so I still bike the neighborhoods!

Haven't bought many records lately, but some bitchen old lps I have include; Cyndi Lauper-She's So Unusual, Cheap Trick-Live at Budokan (yes!), Tom Tom Club-Call of the Wild 12" maxi-single, Malcolm McClaren-Fans, Free Kitten-Sentimental Education (Kim Gordon and Yoshimi, et al), Robert Gordon w/ Link Wray-Fresh Fish Special (plus two Robert Gordon 7"s), Glen Campbell-hey Little One & Wichita Lineman, Bruce Springsteen-Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ, John Lennon/Yoko One-Double Fantasy, Springsteen-Wild, Innocent, etc, Lennon-Mind Games.

Today (9-19-12) I just picked up Guided by Voices-Earthquake Glue, Camper Van Beethoven-Our Beloved Revolutionary Sweetheart, and two Aphex Twin 12"s. Oh, and the other day, I got Talking Heads-Little Creatures with the Howard Finster painting on the cover! I still am very happy I have these (4-30-13).

(5-30-14)Still not buying many records.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Procrastinating.

Playing "Delia" by Johnny Cash.

Correcting people's grammar and spelling (as well as my own!).

Riding my bike with no hands.

Over-use-of-hypens.

"...long exposures...", indeed....
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I dunno, my eyeglasses?

Beard is gone, sunburnt neck is not sunburnt. Today, it is the tee shirt I'm wearing I bet.

Umm, the label on the bottom of the brim of my baseball cap.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Currently reading Kesey, Cuckoo's Nest. Just finished Steep Approach To Garbardale by Iain Banks. What a writer. I want to read The Wasp Factory and The Bridge again.

Michael Ondaatje. The Nasty Bits by Bourdain and The Ginger Man by JP Donleavy. In addition, The Road by Cormac McCarthy. Recently read Work and Other Sins, a collection of writings by Charlie LeDuff, NYTimes columnist. Lots of bits about drinking and NYC bars and post 9-11 stuff. . There's also a Beat Generation reader that I keep out. Just finished The Death of Bunny Munro by Mr. Nick Cave! On The Road-Kerouac. Ya' know.

Music: You can see above to get a sense of some of the stuff I buy on vinyl. I've applied to Jackpot every time they post an opening, which is something like four times in the last year, and only this time managed to connect with the owner face-to-face.

Jeff the Brotherhood changed the shape of my head with their sound! (5-22-12)
Guided By Voices, Ween, The Ventures, Flaming Lips WATTAIN, The Arrivals, , Mudhoney, Talking Heads, Camper Van Beethoven, Youthbitch, The Memories, White Fang, BOOM!, The Mean Jeans, The We Shared Milk, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Ghostwriter, Bowie, Marianne Faithful, The Skabbs, The Wipers, Elliot Smith, Big Star, The Replacements, The Textbook Committee, Luna, The Skabbs, Blue Cranes, Swansea Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Dwight Yoakam, you name it. That's some favorite bands. Did I mention Guided By Voices? Oh! And Heartless Bastards! "I could not think straight, and I could not sit still and I could not sit straight and I could not think still!"

Oh, and that Gotye record; All I listen to on it is that "Somebody That I Used To Know" song. Epic. Perfect for where I was.

Ry Cooder records are awesome.

The Hold Steady, Television, Mr. Airplane Man and John Hammond covering Tom Waits.

Food: I like all kinds of food. I like to cook, as well. I'm trying to be as gluten-free as possible. I had a Gyro yesterday, couldn't help myself. Considering going Paleo.

Movies: I enjoy watching movies, Big Lebowski is a favorite that comes to mind. Flash Gordon, Predator, Mission Impossible:Ghost Protocol and Dragon Tattoo Girl are all movies I've seen recently and enjoyed. The Devil and Daniel Johnston. Saw the recent revival of AIRPLANE! at the Hollywood, which was a blast.

Shows: Currently re-watching Arrested Development! I watch a lot of different shows. I'm a big fan of Spaced. Mad Men, duh...Downton Abbey, TRAILER PARK BOYS! South Park.
I really like British copper shows (Prime Suspect, Luther).
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
-Vinyl records
-Water
-Guided By Voices
-Cider
-Pen and paper
-Film cameras (and film, duh....)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How I can be better at being me, whatever that may turn out to be that day.

"You're" vs. "your."
"There, their, they're...."

Alex Grey paintings.

How putting the word YAY in all-caps and quotes makes the whole thing "Post," according to Suzy. "YAY!"

Oh, and sex, 'cause who doesn't?

Flip flops. Ugh. I'm working on the flip flops joke.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Laying around or stalking the Bing Lounge or walking the neighborhood. Or drinking some cider.

Or seeing some band/hearing live music.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I don't really know what "ablative behavior" is, but, it sounded good. Or do I?

Also, I really dig Edie Brickel & New Bohemians' song "Nothin'," and "Circle." Heck that whole record kills.

You have a sense of humor and would like to help me find mine. Ha! Kidding! Mine is perfectly intact.

If you're the lady who sings Divinyls' "I Touch Myself" at Ladd's Inn karaoke Friday nights. Ladd's Inn, RIP.

If you're the washboard player from Sassparilla.

You want me to show you where the only cider bar in the world is, or you already know where it is and want to meet me there.

If you know the best chicken wings in the world come from These Guys down in Brooklyn.

You know where Brooklyn is, and find it humorous that locals give you a blank stare when you mention that neighborhood.

Just message me, I like getting notifications that I got a message on OKC. Simple pleasures!

You want to ride through the alleys of Ladd's Addition! Funnest thing to do in Portland on a bike! Sublime, even.

Message me if you know anything about WATTAIN.

I don't bite (unless you ask me to!) and I'm perfectly harmless.
