My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm from Wigan originally but I've been working in Manchester for about 15 years and finally moved here in 2006. I started off sharing with a couple of friends but bought my own place a few years ago and am planning on staying put for the foreseeable future.

I've been working as a civil servant since I was 19 despite originally thinking it was 'until I find a proper job', it's not exactly my dream job but I don't mind it; there's plenty of travelling so I get paid to read books a lot.

I enjoy the usual things - reading, movies, box sets (usually HBO), music, prefer pubs to clubs these days, do a bit of running and hill walking and meet a friend to play darts once a week. I love to learn new stuff and I tend to dip in and out of loads of topics at random, I've recently read up on things like Greek and Norse mythology, the crusades, psychology and Russian history.

I also have the useless knowledge of where each letter is placed in the alphabet i.e. A=1,B=2 etc... that I had to learn for a maths class when I was about 7 and never forgot.

Other than that I think I'm pretty laid back, and tend to get on with most people. I can be a bit quiet sometimes but I quite like that, I just don't always feel the need to contribute to a discussion unless I have something worthwhile to add I guess. I don't like it when someone just rehashes what one of the redtops has told them to think, I'm pretty good at sorting fact from opinion...
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I work normal office hours Monday to Friday so midweek it's usually nothing too outrageous. Maybe a pint or two after work, occasional trip to the cinema (I like the old stuff they show on a Monday in the printworks - Goodfellas, Aliens etc) or just at home reading or watching a couple episodes of a box set.

Weekends I sometimes go back and see my friends in Wigan for a meal and a few drinks, or I may have a quiet Saturday then go up to the Lake District walking early on Sunday.

I've just got back from Croatia (literally a couple hours ago as I'm writing this) and am looking to go to Iceland later in the year to hopefully see the northern lights.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Empathy, tolerance, so a good listener I guess. I also love maths and problem solving and am not bad at those. I don't really like to sell myself...

The six things I could never do without

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How I'm going to spend my inevitable lottery win. I want a house with a swimming pool so I'd better wait for a rollover.

My next holiday, I'm going to Dubrovnik in October, can't wait, I didn't get away at all last year due to work so I'm really looking forward to it :)

Edit: just back from Dubrovnik, I didn't want to leave. Sulking now I'm back and have to go to work and stuff
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Sometimes I'll be having a few drinks after work or out for a meal somewhere. Or if I've got something planned for the weekend it will just be a quiet one, maybe a movie or just getting stuck into a book and/or a takeaway

You think we'd get on - I've answered quite a few questions and elaborated on some, I think they probably give a better idea of the kind of person I am rather than the rest of my profile. I don't send many messages, mostly because I suck at them and they sound like a job application - 'I think I'd be a suitable candidate for you to converse with for the following reasons detailed in the attached 45 minute PowerPoint presentation...'
