I'm not very good at selling myself, haven't tried one of these sites before but saw this one mentioned on reddit and decided to give it a go...

I'm from Wigan originally but moved to Manchester a few years ago where I've recently bought my first house after previously sharing with friends.

I've been working as a civil servant for the last 12 and a bit years despite originally signing up 'until I find a proper job'.

I enjoy the usual things - reading, movies, music and like to catch up with friends back in Wigan as often as I can. I've recently started running a couple of days a week and also like swimming although I'm a little rusty.

And I'm obviously too laid back as this website keeps on saying 'uh oh' as I don't mind any of the answers to their questions...

Started a new job (sort of) in January and am training to be a VAT tax specialist. Will be studying and taking exams until May 2014 at which point I may have to start doing proper work again...

Procrastinating... I should be revising for an exam I've got tomorrow morning rather than filling this out!

I'll (unsuccessfully) try to keep it brief...

Fave books: Catch 22 (it took me 3 attempts to get into it but I'm so glad I persevered!), 1984, His Dark Materials, anything by Kafka, Iain Banks (with or without the M), Steven Eriksen, Robert Rankin, Pratchett, Bill Bryson, Sergei Lukyanenko. Any other suggestions much appreciated :-)

Shows: Deadwood, The Wire, Firefly, Family Guy, Band of Brothers, Spaced, Game of Thrones (I should have mentioned the books above which I read years before the tv series - which is the closest to a hipster I'm ever likely to be) about to start Boardwalk Empire and have Breaking Bad lined up after that... Not really into any soaps/reality shows

Some movies: Pan's Labyrinth, Goodfellas, Trading Places, Carlito's Way, Donnie Darko, True Romance, 12 Monkeys, Lost Boys, LOTR, L A Confidential, Iron Man.

Music: Mostly Indie, off the top of my head I like The Cribs, Radiohead, Sleeper, The Strokes, Spiritualised, Arcade Fire, The Cure, Rolling Stones, Nirvana, Pixies, The Jam, The Libertines, James, Morcheeba.

I know next to nothing about classical music but I do have a favourite piece - Brahms Symphony Number 4 (which I purchased quite by accident at a 2nd hand shop - it was in a Bowie box).

Favourite food is Thai and Chaophraya is probably my favourite restaurant in Manchester. Edit: just been to the Birmingham one which was also amazing!

Coffee, books, friends, music, family, internet.

Well that's a pretty boring, unoriginal list.

Getting my shit together and doing something with my life (outside of work that is, which is already going surprisingly well)

I'll either be in a pub/bar in Manchester or Wigan or at home watching a movie or something.
