Besides what's in the "Details" display, I guess I could add that I'm single, straight, professional, 175 lbs, with light brown hair and blue eyes, fit and active, healthy, employed, financially secure, living alone, with my own house and car, and quite close to family though they live far away. This site's assessment of my "personality" seems reasonably accurate.
I hope to find a woman who wants to enter a serious relationship, possibly becoming permanent. As part of the search I am happy to meet other women who might become activity partners or friends, but I'd really like to get to a point where I can close this account and enjoy my new partner!
I teach and advise at a certain large, well-known educational institution in Austin. When I'm teaching I'm pretty high-energy (as you'll discover if we start talking about my work). But I have now left the high-profile academic track and am enjoying a more complete life. I like outdoor activities (I have bicycled across the country, and I run and swim and hike and kayak and ...). I enjoy travel (four continents so far), and intellectual stimulation (like shows, museums, and challenging games). I like to try new things often -- just in the last year I've taken classes in windsurfing and in circus aerials.
Indeed, I find the whole world interesting; the only ingredient missing for a happy life is to have my own special someone to share it with. I hope to find a woman who enjoys some of those things with me, although I recognize that we needn't share all our activities. While I don't like to dismiss anyone as a potential mate, it's unlikely that we will hit it off if you are not old enough and educated enough to enjoy a spirited conversation; or if you are not young enough and fit enough to enjoy a day of hiking or bicycling. I hope for a relationship as good as or better than the ones I have had in the past. Those women tended to share some characteristics so I guess I hope you do too: nonsmokers living near me, with college degrees (or more), about as athletic-looking or thin as I am, mostly now in their 40s, without children at home to care for.
I have my artsy side (in particular I play piano and sing in a chorus, and enjoy nature photography) but I am more left-brained. (Did you notice my organization into coherent paragraphs?...) If your profile is a mysterious, breezy collection of random thoughts, we may have a hard time seeing eye to eye.
Please drop me a line if you think we'd hit it off. I've answered a bunch of the questions here so you might want to look at how many of the answers we gave are "unacceptable" to each other. (I listed only a few questions as "very important" or "mandatory".)
