I am intelligent, sarcastic, and athletic.
My Self-Summary
I joined this website to meet new people, due to the fact that I
work full time+ as an engineer (equipment likes to break 24/7) and
go to
grad
school part time. As a result, I don't have a lot of free time
to get out to meet people that I'd really connect with. Hopefully,
through here I'll meet some cool new folks.
I enjoy
traveling and have been across the
United States on two separate cross-country
road trips. I’ve hiked the
Grand Canyon
rim-to-river twice and have been to
Germany,
Hungary,
Czech Republic,
Canada, and
Mexico. My ideal vacation includes
visiting and
camping in
National Parks, but I also like
relaxing and being a
beach bum. I'm pretty open to trying new
things.
For humor, I would say I have a sarcastic/dark sense of humor
(however, most everything about humor is timing)... I think
The Big
Lebowski is hilarious, as well as shows like
South Park and the
Colbert Report (when
I can watch them). I also think the
Wedding Crashers is pretty
funny, too - "we lost a lot of good men out there".
Other factoids:
-I'm audience to a wide variety of music.
-I'm a lifelong
Red
Sox/
Patriots/NE sports fan.
-I'm an avid hiker during the warmer months... I haven't done any
winter trips but I'd like to at some point.
-I went to the
Great American Beer
Festival in Denver in 2008...this is something everyone should
see before they die
-I enjoy horror movies
-I will probably impress you with my guitar hero skills :)
What I’m doing with my life
In addition to what is already stated in my self-summary, I grew up
in the country in
Western Massachusetts. I
have also lived in
Boston for five years while going to
Northeastern
University for a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering (Class of '07).
For the last two years, I've lived and worked in Worcester, which
is somewhere in between the two locations (geographically and
development-wise).
I’m really good at
Seeing the big picture, and solving
scientific/
mathematical problems. For some odd
reason I have a knack for giving advise to friends that are in
troubled relationships.
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes and smile... Why don't you please tell me?
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
For books: The most recent book I read was
A Walk In the Woods by Bill
Bryson. Before that, I read
The Jungle by Upton Sinclair, which
made me appreciate the fact that I have a job! The best book that
I’ve read was
All Quiet on the
Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque. A few others I liked:
1984,
Into Thin Air,
Not Without
Peril,
A Clockwork Orange,
The Things
They Carried,
Animal Farm,
The Phantom
Tollbooth.
For movies:
Unforgiven,
The Shining,
Dark Knight,
Braveheart,
Scent of a Woman,
Devil's
Advocate,
Fargo,
Star Wars,
Thank
You For Smoking,
Advent Children,
Alien,
The Machinist,
Casino,
The Departed,
Terminator 1 and 2 (greatest
action movies),
Jacob's Ladder, many types of
horror
movies that most people have never heard of. I also generally
approve of any movie that features
Jack Nicholson,
Clint Eastwood, or
Al Pacino.
For music: I really like a wide variety of styles ranging from
The Beatles
(best band of all time), classical music such as
Chopin, and even heavy/melodic/power
metal such as
Edguy,
Stratovarius
or
In Flames. It
really depends how the music flows and is structured as well as how
the band sounds together. I also enjoy
acoustic music live.
For food: I enjoy cooking in my crock pot, and most things pasta
related. I try to eat a lot of salmon (supposedly it is miraculous
for your health). I've also eaten some pretty weird things:
rattlesnake, rocky mountain oysters, many kinds of sushi, and the
4x4 from In-and-Out Burger.
The six things I could never do without
1. Family
2. Friends
3.
Travel - Love to
visit National Parks/Monuments
4.
Hiking -
Currently I'm doing the 48
4000'ers in the
White Mountains of New
Hampshire
5.
Football and
Baseball - Go
Pats and Sox
6.
Video games
(
Rock Band,
Guitar Hero,
and some of those Wii games are a blast)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Family, friends, how to solve technical problems at work, and grad
school coursework.
On a typical Friday night I am
I might be doing a variety of things. I know how to
ski and
snowboard, but I currently ski. I’m
working to get better at
bouldering (which is a type of
rock
climbing); currently I'm climbing V2's and some easier V3's.
I'm not a crazy guy that hangs from 1000 foot cliffs, I only really
climb indoors.
I might also be hanging out with friends at a bar sharing/listening
to stories from the week.
I also enjoy watching movies (I have a lot of dvds, and downloaded
movies) or playing the occasional game of Rock Band. I may also be
watching a marathon of T.V. episodes and/or dvds.
Some T.V. series that I follow:
Battlestar Galactica - the
best;
Supernatural
- great horror movie nostalgia, a fun series;
Heroes - need to
catch up on that one;
Nip/Tuck -
haven't seen the new ones, since season 4ish.
I'm also looking to start watching the X-files
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I can brew my own beer :)
You should message me if
You're looking for someone in great shape and generally like what
you read and see in my profile. I'd prefer to find someone that has
many common interests and hopefully is interested in sharing a
longterm relationship. I'm not looking for a perfect person, just
really someone that is honest, understanding, and enjoyable to hang
out with (hence common interests). I'd like to meet in person at
some point, so I'm not really looking for pen pals
exclusively.
Also, please tell me about the real you! It's the pile of goofy
idiosyncrasies that make people great.
I'm pretty easy going, and get along well with most types of
people. I have a diverse pool of friends that possess many
different styles of humor. Please feel free to message me if you'd
like to know more.
