My self-summary
I'm an actuary (financial mathematician) for a multinational financial services company and am a practicing Roman Catholic who has never smoked and rarely drinks. The first thing that people notice about me is my sense of humor. Things that are important to me are learning new things, playing (but not watching) sports, daily challenges and someone that I can dedicate myself to making happy. I guess you'd call me an old fashioned romantic. After some introspection, I've realized that I'm like a poker player who thinks he has a winning hand. In other words, when it comes to being in a relationship I'm all in. Most guys will hold back so as to not be vulnerable but for the right woman I'm willing to take a chance. I'd rather get crushed than possibly miss out on something wonderful. Seems almost silly, but I'm thankful every day just to be alive, healthy and happy. So many in the world are not and every time I see or hear about someone in some part of the world that is experiencing famine, war or living under a totalitarian regime I remind myself that although I need to deal with my particular life problems, they are really insignificant when compared with what could have been. I'm thankful for my education, which allowed me to not only support my children and myself but also to at least partially understand the universe. I guess that makes me somewhat of a geek but I think it's cool to still have a child-like wonder at learning some of its secrets. For example, the heavy elements that partially make up our bodies, such as the iron in our blood, were formed in supernovas millions of years ago and spewed out into the cosmos to form our solar system, our planet and eventually, us.

I am educated, funny, and romantic
What I’m doing with my life
Looking for the right woman. I haven't been in love for a very long time and I miss the feeling.
And here's some advice for single ladies on dating sites:
1. It is important that a man helps you around the house and has a job. 2. It is important that a man makes you laugh. 3. It is important to find a man you can count on and doesn't lie to you. 4. It is important that a man loves you and spoils you. But what is most important is that these four men don't know each other.
I’m really good at
Dr. Frankenstein: [to Igor] Now, that brain that you gave me. Was it Hans Delbruck's? Igor: [pause, then] No. Dr. F: Ah! Very good. Would you mind telling me whose brain I DID put in? Igor: And you won't be angry? Dr. F: I will NOT be angry. Igor: Abby Someone. Dr. F: [pause, then] Abby Someone. Abby who? Igor: Abby Normal. Dr. F: [pause, then] Abby ... Normal? Igor: I'm almost sure that was the name. Dr. F: [chuckles, then] Are you saying that I put an abnormal brain into a seven and a half foot long, fifty-four inch wide GORILLA? [grabs Igor and starts throttling him] Dr. F: [yelling] IS THAT WHAT YOU'RE TELLING ME?
The first things people usually notice about me
My sense of humor. Sorry about the bad mug shot but I'm working on the premise that happiness is low expectations. With a bad picture like that I don't have to worry about your being disappointed if we ever meet.

Also, if I had known that I’d be spending so much of my time staring at tables of numbers instead of Brazilian supermodels, I might have made a different career choice.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My taste in music is quite varied but I especially like anything that I can dance to.

Young Frankenstein
The Inlaws (original version)
Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Most ethnic cuisine especially Italian and Asian.
The six things I could never do without
Learning new things.
Exercising/playing (but not watching) sports.
Daily challenges.
Someone that I can dedicate myself to making happy.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The nature of the universe and other things, the answers to which I couldn't ever possibly know. I’ve been most influenced by the great minds of history from Archimedes and the ancients to Einstein and the modern great thinkers. My favorite is Isaac Newton whose collection of works in so many different areas allowed mankind to make great strides forward. His famous quote of, "If I have seen a little further (than others) it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants." Meaning that his accomplishments were only possible by building on the great works of those that came before him. It is through all of these great minds that our knowledge has increased exponentially and has changed us from just being the next meal on the savanna to masters of our planet.
On a typical Friday night I am
Sitting here typing this stuff! Aaarrrgghh!!! I've learned that courtship is more like a marathon than a sprint and doesn't end until she falls into your arms or hits you with the pepper spray!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
That I'm a hopeless romantic. Also, I want to die while asleep like my grandfather, not screaming in terror like the passengers in his car.

One day someone will walk into your life and make you realize why it never worked out with anyone else!
You should message me if
You like Italian men. I’ve entertained you and you want more. You get my humor. The most important qualities that I am looking for in a partner are intelligence, compassion, reasonableness and being physically fit. I seem to remember that I used to like to go to musical plays and dancing. I hope to meet someone who would want to do those things. I also enjoy museums and different types of art and cuisine. It would be nice to do some traveling, especially the Middle East. I've owned six motorcycles in my life but none currently.

Lastly, never pass up a chance to bring some beauty into another person's life.
