I am quiet, geeky, and a sports fan.

My Self-Summary

Like almost everyone I know here in San Diego, I'm not from around here originally, though I've been here almost eight years now. I still suspect my friends and family think it's cosmicly unjust that someone whose hobbies are basically indoor activities lives in San Diego; I'm a lot more likely to be reading or watching TV or playing Xbox than to be at the beach. But I think I'm a pretty nice guy anyway.

What I’m doing with my life

I've been a web programmer for most of my post-college life, but briefly slipped into low-level IT management (or something vaguely resembling it) for a few months before being laid off. But I'm doing some consulting now, which has me in San Jose until Christmas.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

books - anything by Lois McMaster Bujold is pretty much guaranteed to be good, though I'm also somewhat partial to David Weber and classic space warfare and spent most of the 1990s as an obsessed Wheel of Time fan (and was up until 3am reading The Gathering Storm when it came out at the end of October).

movies - I have a serious weak spot for big-budget sci-fi movies (and that's pretty much all I'll watch in the theater); my favorite of the year so far is Star Trek

On a typical Friday night I am

At home.

You should message me if

You're a little geeky (or at least like that in a guy)
You're between 25 and 35 years old (i.e. no more than a little older than me, but done with undergrad and out in the real world or in grad school)
