My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
First, I am looking for more than just sex. Just to be clear.

Rather than view the glass as "half full" or "half empty", I'm the the realist who will wash the glass and put it away. I am a down to earth individual. My friends say they find me to be intelligent and witty. I love to tell a good joke; some of them are corny. I have the ability to laugh at myself.

I am 5'11" tall and weigh about 182 lbs. I exercise regularly, and enjoy jogging and riding a bicycle. I think that would be a fun activity to do with someone. Are you game?

I have a great little apartment right in downtown York. I love decorating it with little pieces of art and colorful objects around the city. I love shopping at secondhand stores because I'd rather spend my money on something unique than buy something cheap from a Walmart.

I love nature and often spend mornings and afternoons wandering around with my camera and snapping photos of whatever catches my eye. My favorite plants are sunflowers. Just something about them. I was driving through Wyoming in the early 90s and saw acres and acres of them, just majestically waving in the breeze and facing in the same direction.

I love museums, especially art museums. I could get lost at the museums at the Smithsonian. And the best thing is that it is free!

I have an incurable sweet tooth; I love cinnamon rolls and chocolates with peanut butter. In the past few months I have curbed the sweet tooth, but still allow myself an indulgence once in a while. All things in moderation.

I am intelligent, shy, and adventuresome. Willing take risks to a point. Someday I would like to go backpacking at Yellowstone Park.

Quit smoking 7/1/13 and did not gain any weight.

I love shopping for clothing. My favorite stores are the Salvation Army and Goodwill stores. I can spend a couple hours in those stores. Most of my work clothing came from those stores. In addition, I collect college t-shirts from both of those stores.

Several friends have said I would be a catch. I'd like to think they're right :)
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I love living in the city and enjoying all of what downtown York has to offer. I don't do the bar scene, but the best of part of living in the city is all of the shops and galleries that are just down the street from me. I have a great job helping people.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Listening - I have a very attentive ear, and I that the important part of listening isn't knowing all the answers but rather just being there for someone.

Grilling - I love cooking on my balcony in York.

Canoeing - I'll head down to Muddy Creek when I get the chance.

Knowing useless information - For example, polar bear fur is translucent, not white.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
First impressions of me tend to go one of two ways. Some people notice my warm eyes and say I look like a kind soul, and other people notice my mischievous smile and accuse me of being up to no good.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
War World II history interests me very much. One of my favorite non-fiction authors is Antony Beevor: The Fall of Berlin: 1945 and Stalingrad. At the moment I am reading fiction, which is very rare for me. 'Bourne Retribution.'

I got rid of cable and have watched very little television since then.
Two favorite shows: The Big Bang Theory and Person of Interest. Those shows I watch on CBS's website.

I love PBS: Frontline, This Old House, American Experience. Love NPR: All Things Considered, Car Talk, What Do You Know, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me.

Progressive rock is one of my absolute favorite genres. Rush is one of my favorite bands. I have been a fan since I was a teenager. I also like The Flower Kings, Porcupine Tree, Zeppelin, the Stones, Styx, Marillion, ELP, old Genesis, Seventh Wonder, Spock's Beard, Dream Theater, King Crimson, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Beyond Twilight and Yes among others. I am not a fan of pop music, rap, hip hop or country. I try to have an open mind about pop music. I try. Trying to have an open mind. I still like to crank the volume when I am listening to music.
I like some big band music, such as the Glenn Miller Orchestra.

I would say my favorite meal is turkey and all the trimmings. Simple food. I love sushi!
Some times I like to have breakfast for dinner. Who says french toast is just for breakfast.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Clothing-you should see my bedroom closet.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Everything; I tend to over-think at times. I enjoy thinking of ways to help others and be a good friend for them.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Socializing with friends. It varies from week to week. On Fridays I can usually be somewhere in the city enjoying the night.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!

I'm looking for someone who is honest and a fun person to be around, whether we are enjoying a quiet night in or a night on the town. Take a chance. You never know until you try.
