I am liberal, introverted, and Toys 'R' Us Kid.

My Self-Summary

I'm an introvert that can sometimes pass as an extrovert (mainly in small groups). I love bookstores, and can spend hours in one. Yet I never seem to have time to read all of the books that I buy. (I have three main shopping weaknesses -- books, plants, and coats.) I'm not a fan of vegetables. I'm loyal. I'm a serious person that sometimes likes to bring the silly, and am equally at home wearing a suit or Hello Kitty pajamas. I make it a point to know the best Thai restaurants in the area. And I'm probably far too analytical to meditate for long on a Zen koan. If you're a Myers-Briggs follower, I usually score as an INFP.

What I’m doing with my life

I just moved here from DC to take a new job working at a research center affiliated with a local school. Which is a wonderful change of pace from my previous gig as a lawyer in a big, international firm. So for now, I'm catching up on the academic scholarship in my area that I've missed since graduating law school, while simultaneously attempting to unpack my apartment and get out and explore the city.

The first things people usually notice about me

Probably my blue eyes. And I think I must have an approachable face. I'm always getting asked for directions, even in a city I've never set foot in before.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: 1984. The Mind's I. One.

Movies: Grosse Pointe Blank. The Princess Bride.

Music: Dar Williams. R.E.M.

Food: Thai. Italian. Ice Cream. Cupcakes. BBQ.

The six things I could never do without

While I can't say that I couldn't do without these things, they certainly make life much nicer:

Books. Thai food. Friends. Gelati Celesti's Chocolate Decadence ice cream. My cat. Pretty places to go and things to look at.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Far too many things.

On a typical Friday night I am

While I can occasionally be found out at a bar, I'm unlikely ever to be a happy hour regular. I prefer to mix things up a bit. Let's go bowling, take a cooking class, try rock climbing, host a game night... Or let's stay in with a fire and a mug of hot chocolate (extra marshmallows, of course).

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

My first concert was Milli Vanilli.

You should message me if

You're willing to go along with my latest Saturday night scheme, but can also take the reins and plan an evening out or weekend away. You don't take yourself too seriously, and can make me laugh with you. You're kind to waiters. You know your own mind and can articulate it for others -- what you want and need, what's important to you and what's not. You believe in practicing small kindnesses for those in your life, and you appreciate the same in return. You want to explore the world and the city you live in.

And being able to give a good massage is definitely a bonus.
