My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I am a library nerd. I like new-book smell and sometimes old-book smell. I don't mind when I get a used book that smells like tobacco because it makes me hope someone sat in a big leather chair with brandy and a cigar to read it. And tried to turn the pages with a hook hand.

I waste heaps of time going from article to article on Wikipedia, How Stuff Works, or Slate.

I like elaborate, Lucy-and-Ethel sorts of scheming to various ends. I'm really just a sucker for things I haven't done before. If it's an adventure I have no experience with, I'm very likely to say yes just on principle. Especially if it's outside.

I could spend a whole day watching Clint Eastwood movies.

My favorite people are creative and resourceful and know how to treat others well, and they have personal ambition but don't take themselves too seriously. I like to hang around folks I can learn something from.

I have an awesome partner - DollarEL - who likes blues dancing, Star Wars, and making repeated attempts to get me into rock climbing. (I'm more of a hiking/camping/running kind of girl.)
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm an academic librarian. (Fancy letters after my name and everything!) Since I've been going to school almost nonstop for several years, I want to take some time to relax and travel more - I have this sick little nerd dream of visiting the Great Libraries of the World. Specifically the Bodleian. (my library crush)
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm really good at research. Also good at arts-and-craftsy things, crosswords, packing suitcases. I make awesome zucchini cakes.

But I'll be the first to tell you that I suck at Sudoku. That stuff is kee-ray-zee. Also not as good at Scrabble as I thought, but I still contend that I haven't really applied myself.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Can't lie, it's my sexy librarian glasses.

The Dharma Bums is my favorite. Runners-up include The Hitchhiker's Guide, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Sex at Dawn, Tao of Pooh, the poetry of Dennis Brutus, and many things by Thich Nhat Hanh.

I think I missed out by not reading Catcher in the Rye when I was fifteen.

The Emperor's New Groove is my favorite movie. Seriously.

Howlin Wolf, The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band, Marc Cohn, Meat Loaf, Jack Johnson, David Newman, the Beatles. Tom Waits. Weezer, Radiohead, and Iron & Wine.

I've been eating mostly paleo for the past year or so, and it's been great! Turns out I make a bomb-ass Korean bbq pork with shredded cabbage. (Who knew?)
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
chapstick
running shoes
hot tea
sexy librarian glasses - they are functional as well as stylish.
Google calendar
podcasts (particularly Sawbones & Welcome to Night Vale)

I'd also like to add snacks and mechanical pencils.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I'm training my lab/border collie puppy Sadie, so I think quite a bit about new tricks to teach her.

Also looking forward to future burns after indulging my inner hippie at a fantastic Alchemy.

Um... And how I'm going to run the greatest and most badass library in the world one day. Yeah.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Hanging out with The Partner and/or Friends, sometimes including puppy playdates for Sadie. :)

If you have another suggestion, try me.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I am guilty of little collegiate transgressions like trespassing, skinnydipping, and getaway driving (for streakers). Good times all around.

And when I was little, I used to believe that people could read my mind and listen to what I was thinking. Now I'm quite glad that they can't.

As a direct result of meeting people on this site, I've become a certified scuba diver and have discovered H3. If you are looking for an adventuring associate, too, I'm your gal. If you have any amazingly fun hobby or adventure up your sleeve, I want to hear about it.

Or if you just want to, that'd be cool. :) I'd like to meet folks who are excited about what they do - grand schemes or not, but the grander the better in my book.
