My self-summary
Greetings, stranger! I'm an optimist and as such, feel that you'll find this profile half-full of interest and charm. As a work hard, play hard type of person, I carpe all the juicy diem I can get my hands on. I'm big into laughing and making others laugh, usually attained through the use of varying brow-height humor.
What I’m doing with my life
Just graduated with masters from a snooty British university in astrophysics studying dark energy. Currently I'm a data scientist at Microsoft working with cool cloud computing-related tech and their ilk.

I'm a cycling marathoner (known as a "Fred" to use the proper parlance), which means 100 miles is within my comfort zone.

Additionally, I am very interested in education and am working on a youtube series to teach scientific computing. I can't believe so many PhD students don't know LaTeX when they start their programs!
I’m really good at
Getting people out of their comfort zones to try and experience new things and ideas. I've been introduced as a great teacher, and cook as well.

I'm an avid hiker and would like to summit at least one glacier-infested craggly peak before global warming gobbles them all up.
The first things people usually notice about me
When I first meet new people, I can be very open, honest and engaging. I'm big into pop culture references and I tend to blurt out lines from the Simpsons, Seinfeld or Star Trek frequently.

Incidentally, my favorite sunglasses that happen to be in almost all photos of me are not super glued to my head, I just like being out in the sun.

I spent my childhood contorting my face like silly putty, so I can pull off a pretty slick ape impression. The difference between that and my Steven Seagal face is surprisingly different.

I tend to pride myself in my punctuality, so my goal is to usually arrive a few minutes before I'm expected. This also is a side effect of my car going faster than light speed.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Currently reading: The Time Machine Did It - John Schwartzwelder

Recently read: Sam Harris - The Moral Landscape, Stephen Colbert's latest book, and Goldberg's greatest hit, Differential Geometry of Varieties With Degenerate Gauss Maps (a real thriller, you won't guess who was the killer in the end)

Some favorite authors: Edwin Abbot, Douglas Adams, Euripides, Isaac Asimov, Joseph Campbell, Philip K Dick, Stephen Hawking, George Orwell, Bertrand Russell, JRR Tolkien

TV: Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Breaking Bad, Star Trek: The Next Generation, South Park, Futurama, The Simpsons (seasons 3-9), Game of Thrones, Colbert Report

Movies: Either ones that have at least an 8 on IMDB or ones that are below a 4. Turkish Star Wars and Manos: The Hands of Fate have a certain artistic panache that rivals Christopher Nolan movies with their directing brilliance.

Musical Artists: Howard Shore, Jeremy Soule, Hans Zimmer, Hotline Miami, Yo-Yo Ma, Brahms, Chopin, Holst, Rachmaninov, Rostropovich, Mischa Maisky, Pavoratti, Daft Punk, Mendelssohn, and whatever really insane music I can rip from youtube to aggravate my car passengers. Latest champion for that last category goes to Lil B.

Food: Thai, Indian, Italian, Turkish, just about any Asian food...

I spend a lot of time thinking about
-Tactical combat in non-euclidean geometry

-Whether or not animals think all humans are as dumb as I sound when telling them how good a pet they are

-If entangled particles transmit info through an undiscovered dimension
On a typical Friday night I am
Partying on billionaire's rooftops, like any normal person would be doing on a 'typical' (whatever that means) Friday evening.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm pretty sure I can only drive my car while listening to Pirates of the Caribbean, Inception or The Dark Knight soundtracks. Definitely makes rocket boosting onto rooftops more exciting.

I have the entirety of the movie The Rock memorized, from dialogue to soundtrack and sound effects.
