I am thoughtful, inquisitive, and nerdy.
My Self-Summary
I am a fairly quiet, simple, nerdy girl, who loves to read, grocery
shop, cook, do puzzles(
sudoku,
crosswords,
logic puzzles), and avoid places
with a ton of people in them. I am open to any line of
conversation, and know a little about a lot, and a lot about a few
things (that most people would probably find boring). I have sadly
gotten away from my longtime love of new music, and have been lax
in movie watching lately too.
some things that are important to me include-
politics,
feminism, and
glbt rights. i have also within the
past year started to do a little more to take part in environmental
causes, such as saving items for recycling (and then driving them
to the recycle dumpsters, as i dont have one available at my
apartment), and trying to use things with less packaging/not buy as
much unneeded stuff. i am also a nut about budgeting and being
thrifty.
What I’m doing with my life
I work full time in retail, and part time in the medical field. I
am planning to finish up my almost completed degree by the end of
next year. I am considering my options after that for further
schooling, training, or jobs. in my spare time I mostly read,
puzzle, or nap. I watch very little tv.
I just moved into an apartment alone, and what a joy it is.
I’m really good at
spending time alone. reading. listening to peoples problems and
giving advice, even if it means just rewording what they have told
me in a way to make them see things in a new light. I like to think
I am good at cooking, but perhaps I just enjoy it. I am trying my
hand at gardening, and it seems to be going pretty well. i am also
good at making fun of people, and picking up on jokes.
The first things people usually notice about me
my size. my sense of humor.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
books - way too many to list. I'm a total book nerd. my favorite
genres right now: memoirs, humorous essays and fiction, YA fiction,
science, true crime. I also love cookbooks, and puzzle books.
I am currently reading a short history of women by kate walbert. I
just finished reading slaughterhouse five by kurt vonnegut, the
poisonwood bible by barbara kingsolver, a homemade life, by molly
wizenberg, and alone in the kitchen with an eggplant, by jenni
ferrari-alder.
i also read quite a few magazines on a regular basis- the advocate,
bitch, bust, curve, ms, readymade, real simple, and seed. oh, and a
ton of cooking magazines.
movies - pretty much anything. I love ridiculous comedies, the
smarter the better. I love horror films also. The last movie i saw
in the theater was pineapple express. and the last thing I bought
on DVD was
shaun of the dead. I am
totally in a weird mood right now where all I want to watch are
documentaries. I have been devouring them.
music - a little bit of everything. favorite genres are alternative
and indie rock, rap and hip-hop, and I shamelessly admit listening
to top 40.
food - pretty much everything. I like to try new things. I dont
like sausage or popcorn. if I'm going out, it is likely for
mexican, or sushi. If I am cooking, it is american comfort food,
mexican, or something simple thrown together.
TV -
arrested development.
mr. show.
law and
order svu.
freaks and geeks.
the l word.
top chef.
project runway.
best week ever.
the soup.
oz.
home movies.
it's always
sunny in philadelphia.
bullshit.
The six things I could never do without
my friends.
books.
iced water.
cooking gadgets.
text messaging.
flip flops.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
my life and what I'm going to do with it. my relationship with my
parents (both sets). what I'm going to cook next. new books to
read. inappropriate jokes to make to my friends. past
relationships. my health.
On a typical Friday night I am
attending a happy hour at one of two low key places I often hang
out. going to bed early.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
i have a special lunchbox, the
laptop lunch. because of this i
take a picture of the lunches i take to work, and upload them onto
a group dedicated just to the lunchbox. some people think its
weird, but i love it.
You should message me if
anything here piques your interest. you care more about who a
person is than what they look like. you have a sick sense of humor,
but a sweet heart underneath it all.
