My self-summary
Intensely contemplative, passionate about ideas and their instantiation, creative, working on being less destructive unless in reference to unthought social mores, deeply interested in new perspectives however rare they are, desiring resonance - I often feel like Whitman encompassing various bodies.

I currently manage a division atat an efficiency/renewable energy company. Before that, I finished my Masters in Philosophy in Belgium. Before that I did environmental and human rights work and election work for progressives and Obama for about 10 years.

I paint. I write. I love bombast, wit, play, and people barreling down on life. I often find my head in the clouds (as my brain doesn't have an off-switch), until my senses compel me back to earth... which happens as a hedonist of sorts, open to and affirming of all the pleasures of life. I'm very much a beer aficionado (yeah craft beer!), homebrew (just finished a Pannepot clone), and love to cook (anything). I also edit reviews for a small videogaming website, am a practicing museum junkie, and I love riding my bike (to work, but really anywhere - preferably with some wind in my hair).

I like candor, thought, creativity, authenticity, care, passion, curiosity, singularity, intensity, taste, deformation, left wing politics, play, desire, open eyes, attention to what moves you, rigorous ideas, appreciating moments, inspiration, being overcome, the little things, overcoming, unfolding worlds...

I grew up religiously evangelical but jettisoned that long ago. My wife, MegsinMass, and I enjoy other partners, so I'm looking for extra fun and connection (more bonus points for non-monogamous / polyamorous gals).
What I’m doing with my life
Unfortunately not reading nearly enough Jacques Lacan - but making up for it with Neil Stephenson.
I’m really good at
... overthinking things.
But really, I tend to excel at many things, especially those involving a good amount of creativity and thoughtfulness. However, my years doing non-profit political work has affected me in such a way that I'm also much more a proactive person than my natural demeanor tends towards. Intensely laid back? Not really. Rather, I'm competitive, but accept and welcome difference because that's when I learn something - and really, I love learning.

Also, I tend to be intently focused on whatever I'm doing, such that the rest of the world tends to fade away. This can be perceived as deafness, distraction - but when ideas play in my head like music, and when every event calls for a multiplicity of thinking, and when I don't hear particularly well in my left ear, well, you get the idea. Really, I like to be engaged; and quite frankly, I'm not that introverted - actually I'm a tad of a charming socialite - and I'm not your typical guy, I'd say. I also rocked David Bowie (Space Oddity of course) at the jeanie johnston's karaoke the other night.

... and yes, I do tend to overthink everything... or maybe I'm just actually thinking...
The first things people usually notice about me
Either I'll be shy or charming, maybe both.
...but probably the latter (especially if we're on a date).
