In 2009, I decided I could no longer tolerate or settle for
discontent, so I quit my unrewarding job and spent the next year
traveling overseas. It was the most profoundly positive experience
of my life. I've seen and done things I never would have imagined
doing before I left, and I consider myself a better person for
it.
The infinite possibilities each day holds should stagger the mind. The sheer number of experiences I could have is uncountable and breathtaking. As such I try to make the most of every moment of every day. I am spontaneous, opportunistic, and some might say completely random, sometimes speaking and acting without rhyme or reason. I probably come off as capricious and mercurial, but it's only because I'm fascinated by the totality of human experience. I'm the kind of person who doesn't count time by hands on a dial but rather by heartbeats. In the words of Jim Morrison, "No eternal reward will save you from wasting the dawn."
tl;dr - I did a bunch of traveling and now I pursue every opportunity I can manage in an effort to make the most of my finite existence on this planet.
My interests include beer, science, couchsurfing, most outdoor activities (cycling, rock climbing, backpacking/hiking/camping, etc.), music, live shows, anything social, DIY antics, absurd humor, webcomics, trivia, anything that gives me the opportunity to wear a costume (Halloween, Comic-con), and urban exploration. If anyone knows how to get into the abandoned City Hall station or the top of the Washington Arch, I'd be much obliged.
