My self-summary
TL;DR: I'm intelligent, nerdy, funny, caring and open-minded, looking for the same. If that describes you and you're non-religious, carnivorous, a beer drinker and/or a dessert lover, I'm interested.

The long version, in bullet form!

• I'm a fairly quiet guy, but get past that (not hard) and I'm actually pretty lively
• To me, there are few things better than having a good beer, scotch or meal with someone I like. Or someone I just met who's interesting.
• I love comedy. I love to laugh and make other people laugh. I love stand up comedy, and having said that, brilliant minds like George Carlin probably had a bigger influence over who I am than most of the people I actually know. And like him, I have a really dirty/offensive sense of humor.
• I've been skydiving, hang gliding and bungee jumping, and would love to go again
• The product of most of my medical training is me answering other people's dumb medical questions or using a bad British accent to occasionally chime in with "Trust me, I'm The Doctor". And I'm totally fine with that.
• I like to get out of my comfort zone and am up for trying anything at least once, twice if I think maybe the first time just didn't work. That said, I hate clubbing, and generally suck at dancing
• I absolutely hate social rules, games and any of that stuff because to me, it's pointless. If someone wants something, they should say it. If someone is not interested, they should still say it. I do. Saves a lot of time and energy, and just seems more considerate.
• I like to quote things and also rant about things. If you keep reading, this will be pretty obvious.

And because no OK Cupid profile is complete without some mention of outdoorsy stuff (seriously, almost every profile has something like this), I like travel, hiking, camping, fishing, swimming, waterskiing, scuba, biking, frisbee, the park on a nice day, etc...
What I’m doing with my life
Alternating between lab work and medical writing while trying to get better positions in either, but talking about careers is boring. Really I want to figure out how to achieve my goals which involve traveling the world, opening a brewery, getting a pilot license, seeing the Northern Lights, running the NYC Marathon (will probably happen in November), seeing the stars somewhere with no light pollution, etc.
I’m really good at
Making jokes, all things science, brewing/enjoying beer, roasting/making coffee, all things tech, quoting things, pirating things, running, baking, mixing drinks, and probably other things. I've been told I make great coffee, great beer and "The best Belgian waffles I've ever had"
The first things people usually notice about me
Glasses, deep voice and the fact that I'm probably staring into the sky at any given moment
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Hitchhiker's Guide Series, The Emperor of All Maladies, Stranger in a Strange Land, Freakonomics, Dracula, any book about Homebrewing...Most of my reading over the past 6 years has been studying for one test or another...

Shows: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (see username), 90's episodes of The Simpsons, Avatar: The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra, Breaking Bad, Archer, Rick and Morty, Arrested Development, Bob's Burgers, Futurama, Top Gear, Community, Firefly, Parks and Recreation, South Park, Doctor Who, Sherlock, and probably a lot more I just can't think of right now

Movies: Team America, Evil Dead Trilogy, Serenity, Die Hard 1-4, Anything Tarantino, Dark Knight Trilogy, The Avengers, Monty Python and the Holy Grail/Life of Brian/Meaning of life, Anything Mel Brooks, and probably a lot more I just can't think of right now

Music: Green Day, Rush, RHCP, Billy Joel, Disturbed, Bon Jovi, Dropkick Murphy's (Thank you 4 years in Boston), Foo Fighters, Avenue Q and Book of Mormon soundtracks, and probably a lot more I just can't think of right now

Food: Thai, Dim Sum, Bacon, Peanut butter, Mexican food, Sushi, Chocolate, Steak, Burgers, BBQ Pulled Pork and Ribs......It's just easier to say I'll eat and enjoy anything that isn't olives

Video Games: ZELDA..Ocarina of Time and Link to the Past being my two favorites, Portal and Portal 2, Dead or Alive, Mortal Kombat, Smash Bros, South Park Stick of Truth, Infamous, Arkham Asylum/City, and definitely a lot more I just can't think of right now
The six things I could never do without
Craft Beers
Good friends
my Samsung Galaxy S3
Chocolate, Peanut Butter, and any combination of the two
Reddit (probably obvious from the first line of this profile, though starting with the TL;DR makes me a considerate redditor?)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How can I achieve my life goals?

What should my next homebrew be? Not sure how to top my last IPA "I Am The One Who Hops"

If most of an atom is empty space, and most of space is a vacuum, then most of existence is nothingness, and the relative distances between things are unimaginable. Really cool shit.

Would it be overly crazy to move somewhere completely at random and start over? Like, throw a dart at a map of the US? If it's not too crazy, how would I pull it off? I guess by buying a map and some darts...

I must have mentioned beer like 10 times in this profile. I mean craft beer and homebrewing are kind of my passions, but I wonder if people reading this think I'm an alcoholic or frat boy by now...

Why are people so into religion? To me, it's like being married to an abusive partner. "Oh I'm so flawed, only god can help me. I feel so blessed to have the lord love me. He only punishes me cause he loves me..."

Random Simpsons quotes from the good episodes.
On a typical Friday night I am
At a bar/meetup, blazing, hanging with friends, studying, video games, Netflix/southparkstudios/
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm not that private and will probably admit to most things, even if I'm meeting you for the first time. That said, I can't see the point of talking about my sexual exploits/abilities on here, and I'm almost sure everyone sings badly and tries to use telekinesis when no one else is around, so I won't write that. Here are a few random facts, also jokes...

• I own a random collection of kitchen gadgets, despite the fact that I rarely cook.
• One of my life goals is to get a Triforce of Courage tattooed onto my left hand. It will probably happen when I'm older and having a clearly visible tattoo doesn't keep me out of a job.
• I once had to go to the ER after getting burned by a flaming marshmallow. In my defense I was far from sober.
• I never wanted to be a scientist. I always...wanted to be....A LUMBERJACK!!
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 23–31
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, casual sex
You should message me if
I'm all for meeting new people (preferably talking for awhile first) no matter what comes of it, so just message me if you feel like it. If feeling like it isn't enough, here are a few suggestions:

• I messaged you first
• You think we would get along
• You want to do something fun
• You want to brew beer, drink great beer/scotch/bourbon/coffee, eat great food, or go running. Or all of the above. Preferably all of the above
• You're bored and are feeling like an impromptu getting out of the apartment.
• You can name the very sexy learning disability I suffer from (think Futurama)
