My self-summary Propose an edit

I'm an East-Coaster (Philly!) who's taking a chance on the West Side. I figured that 30 was as good an age as any to make a major life change, so I sold all of my stuff and moved to foggy San Francisco. I left behind family(not like a wife & kids) and friends, and I don't regret it yet even though I miss both.
I miss road trips and a dozen cities being real close to each other. I don't like that I'm so close to the beach and can't really swim because the water is so cold. I do like that it's summer and I haven't once had to stay inside because it's "too fuckin hot". I curse. A lot. But I'm respectful of babies and pets. I like live music. I find it weird that people say "I like live music". I like my iPod, a lot. I like to walk, and it's much more convenient when I don't have to keep turning tapes over, though I do miss mix tapes. I've pretty much sworn off making mixes for people, the favor is hardly returned and the sentiment is missed. I like board, arcade, and role-playing games, but try not to admit I'm a geek. I like to go to the movies, but hey, who doesn't. I miss great pizza, but I've never had burritos like this. I have wayyyyy too much useless knowledge, well, unless we're trying to win Trivial Pursuit. I've been getting some mileage out of the blanket and Travel Scrabble that I pack in my bag on the weekends by Delores Park-ing it for hours on end. I'm still trying to be in a band, not sure if I'll ever give up. I've read more books in the past year than I have in a long time..I blame the reading lamp. I'm trying to take things more seriously, but I'm just so cynical. I still think I'm a good listener though. I have little patience for bullshit, fashion, ignorance, bad music, and tourists that take long videos of buildings.

What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit

I just made a big move across the country to switch things up for a bit. I'd really like to play in a band out here as I have for the past 13 years. I'm working at a computer company downtown and using the degree that I got 8 years ago. It's about time. The government will be even happier when I finally start paying back my student loans. Hey, I wanted to go on tour and travel after college, now I'm $XX,XXX is debt. Oh well. And I'm still exploring the Bay Area. Sheesh. It's big.

I'm really good at Propose an edit

playing bass, making people laugh, yelling "Spring Break" at parties when i get bored of holding up the wall, listening, driving, taking amateur photos, following recipes for vegan/vegetarian food, vacationing, maxing, relaxing, observational singing(no two songs are ever the same!)

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit

i'm shy at first, but after a while people notice that i'm witty. very witty. oh, and i got these black frame glasses. see?

My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit

Books: Anything by David Sedaris, Jeanette Winterson, Kurt Vonnegut, and the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. i'll also read things you suggest.

Movies: Shawshank Redemption, Amelie, Superbad, Seven Samurai, Police Academy, Die Hard, Ghostbusters,

Music: most of it...anything from Decemberists to Minor Threat to Neil Young to Iron Maiden to Rainer Maria to Black Flag to Black Sabbath to Sunny Day Real Estate. oh, and hip-hop jams that get the people to dance.

Food: living in San Francisco is helping "burritos" inch ever closer to "pizza" for the top spot. but shoot, i'll try anything once.

The six things I could never do without Propose an edit

music - playing it, listening to it, seeing it. it's had a huge impact on my life. i've met tons of great people through playing in bands. plus, it tends to make things better, get me riled up, dancin, or staying sulky when i want.

friends - i really like sharing experiences with people, or talking, or learning what makes people tick. i like my alone time more these days than i have in the past, but it doesn't mean that i don't need people in my life. i love that i have great bunch of very close friends.

sunny days - at my worst, i can still use something as small as a nice day to turn things around

good times - come on, who doesn't like a party?

reassurance - i like to think that i'm doing a good job, or living the right way...small reminders help

hope - i'm not afraid to admit i get down. it's good to know that things will get better

I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit

Hopeless romanticism, playing music, taking trips, the future, the past, self-improvement, and daydreaming myself into ridiculous scenarios(it usually makes me laugh)

On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit

Hanging with friends or exploring the city or napping until 9pm and waking up with an "oh shit", then watching a movie.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit

I sometimes forget the names of people in my life because my brain is filled with the lyrics to songs most people would be embarrassed to have heard once, let alone enough times for them to memorize the lyrics

You should message me if Propose an edit

You would like to hang out, see a movie, make some food, or just shoot the shit. I guarantee a good time! Do you know the city well? Take me someplace I've never been!
