My self-summary
I feel as though filling this section out is pointless given the tonnage of information I am providing below and by answering the various questions that help "match" you with other people on here. At the moment I am in an open/poly relationship so no, I'm not looking for a relationship. I have a primary partner. However, you shouldn't take that to mean I am simply here trolling for trim (ah, consonance). Poly/openness is not about sex for me so as much as it is about not limiting the various relationships in my life at the moment. As I work through things at this point in my life that absence of limitation (and expectation for that matter) is helpful. I'm happy to "just be friends" (so to speak...I sort of hate the "just" in that cliche, I think it cheapens the notion of friendship) and am open to that developing into something sexual. I'm not opposed to casual sex either, but if I don't like you as a human being/can't respect you, we will be neither friends nor sexual partners, so the friendship thing is going to be important no matter what.

As for me personally, I've been a professional musician for years. I play in a band that tours and I have my own band. I do jazz gigs, session work, rock gigs, blues gigs, the whole nine. I'm a published poet and that's what my master's degree is in. I've had poems published in various journals and websites and reviewed poetry for journals and blogs and I have done various readings throughout Philadelphia and NYC. I am finishing a novel with a friend of mine and it's going to be published by a small, independent press this year as well.

Art, music, poetry, and film are HUGELY important to me. I wear my fandom of bands, artists, writers, and cineastes on my sleeve. I am passionate about them (some people say too passionate) and I have a collector's mentality about vinyl, mp3s, and books (I ALWAYS try to collect discogs, hunt down rare finds, and will scour every review I can find to try to compare my critical sensibilities with others and develop some expertise in whatever discourse I'm engaged in). I realize that someone caring so much about things can be inspiring and appealing to some and problematic for others, so I might as well be up front about that.
What I’m doing with my life
Musician, poet, teacher, producer, freelance writer
I’m really good at
Writing, singing, music, most things intellectual, being a pretentious d-bag
The first things people usually notice about me
My height, my eyes, my "intensity" (aka, my sadness, my "anger"...people, strangers...invasively and crudely ask me "what's wrong with you?", "why are you so sad?", "why are you so angry?", "what are you being so intense about?" all.the.fucking.time. It's nearly interminable), my wits, nothing at all...I'm fairly reclusive, a moderate wallflower and live by the old adage that it's better to keep one's mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I like way too much to narrow this down so—I really like Steve Erickson, Philip K. Dick, William Gibson, Paul Auster, Albert Camus, Roberto Bolano, David Foster Wallace, James Joyce, Kafka, Borges, William S. Burroughs, and Jean Genet as far as novels go. A big Hunter S. Thompson fan. I like tons of poets but Charles Bernstein, Arthur Rimbaud, Christian Bök, Andrew Joron, and Gertrude Stein number among my favorites. I'm also a big philosophy and critical theory nerd, especially as it relates to postmodernism, (post)-structuralism, post-humanism, existentialism & phenomenology, critical theory, & Marxism—especially Marx, Foucault, Gramsci, Agamben, Benjamin, Bataille, Derrida, Adorno, Hegel, Whitehead, Wittgenstein, Debord, Gadamer, & Deleuze. I like Godard, Woody Allen, and Paul Thomas Anderson films as well as comedies, usually of the ridiculously absurd or quirky/indie variety. I like Monty Python A LOT. Also a huge Lebowski fan (and the Coen Brothers in general). Synechdoche, NY might be my favorite movie at the moment, although, 2001: A Space Odyssey and Annie Hall/Manhattan/Crimes & Misdemeanors are all close as well. As far as TV, I like Family Guy, sue me, it's smarter than you think; South Park (see above); Colbert; and just about anything Aaron Sorkin (i'm OBSESSED). My musical tastes are diverse but I really like Scott Walker, Kate Bush, Stiff Little Fingers, XTC, early Christian Death, David Bowie, The Clash, Bauhaus, Baroness, Black Sabbath, High on Fire, Cardiacs, Genesis, King Crimson, The Adverts, Pink Floyd, John Zorn, Fugazi, Embrace, Sticks and Stones, The Sisters of Mercy, Tim Berne, Sidney Bechet, Kurt Weill, Elliott Smith, Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, The Smiths/Morrissey, minimalism, Gyorgy Ligeti, Deep Purple, early Judas Priest, Dio-era Rainbow, Michael Schenker era-UFO, XTC, Godspeed!, Mogwai, Roky Erickson, Okkervil River, the MC5, Albert King, early B.B. King, Otis Rush, Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Frank Ocean, Jackie Opel, Sly & the Family Stone, Parliament/Funkadelic, Bad Brains, Television/Tom Verlaine, Richard Hell, X-Ray Spex, The Slits, Les Thugs, The Dicks, The Velvet Underground, Laurie Anderson, Tori Amos (especially the first 3 records), Nels Cline, Joanna Newsom, early Discharge, Magma, Siouxie & the Banshees, Nick Cave, Jacques Brel, John Coltrane, Joe Henderson, Bill Evans, Eric Dolphy, Archie Schepp, and Richard Thompson. I'm a big fan of Mexican and Indian food. I like beer and good scotch and dry red wines.
