I am great, tasting, and less filling..

My Self-Summary

Hi. I'm a kinky, poly, bi chick who is a little too tired a the moment to be very witty. I'm cheerful, sincere, spiritual and occasionally very funny. And, despite the list of adjectives above, I'm really pretty down to earth, and not at all high drama or flakey. And, for the record, I'm really not interested in being anyone's unicorn. ;-) Despite my bi status, I'm not really into threesomes, and while i'm happy to date other poly folks who are already in relationships, I'm not interested in being a partner to a couple.

I'm looking for friends, and possible romantic connection with women primarily, although men aren't automatically out of the running.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm uber-busy with grad school (psychology), caring for my family (both by blood and by choice), and a thriving social life. I love creating community, finding joy in the little moments, and giving back to the world around me.

I love my job, I work at a local university in a bookstore with a fantastic bunch of folks.

I love being alone, and I'm quite capable of entertaining myself, so rest assured that I will not require baby-sitting. ;-)

I love working with my hands, and I make art of a wide variety of types, although I have no interest in being a professional artist as my primary income. I've made graphic novels, leather masks, tiny paintings, gourmet food, and an almost finished quilt, to name a few.

I love dance, in fact my first master's thesis was called: "Mysterious Ways: Sacred Movement as Theological Reflection" and was about using therapeutic and spiritual dance in the pagan community to explore spiritual themes and assist in connection with the Divine (however you define that). I'm particularly interested in Sacred sexuality. I occasionally lead workshops, ceremonies, and rituals that use dance as a spiritual practice, and want to start teaching Tantric Dance when I have more time to put into it.

I’m really good at

Being present, listening, art, eye contact, boundaries, making things with my hands, dancing, creating safe space, pushing my own limits.

The first things people usually notice about me

I'm very enthusiastic, which can sometimes overwhelm people. I have a lot of curly hair, and if prompted i can dance like a muppet... which is usually what children notice first, anyways. ;-)

Also, I've noticed that when people first meet me, they tend to either feel really safe and comfortable with me, or they really don't (the ratio seems to be around 80:20). I think it's the eye contact and that, although very kind, I do have a tendency to speak to the heart of the matter which can be downright unsettling at times.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Blankets by Craig Thompson and Aphrodite's Daughters by Jalaya Bonheim, Le Petit Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery.

Movies: Lord of the Rings (all three, extended when possible), The Favor, The Watch, and the Very Big Fish (if anyone's seen it i'd be surprised), and The Secretary.

Music: Trance (Vas, Govinda, Rasa), Folk (Wailin' Jennys, Iron and Wine, Diane Cluck), Alternative (Death Cab for Cutie, Menomena) and Tool.

Food: Thai, Japanese, Indian, omnivorous but with a strange enjoyment of vegan cuisine.

The six things I could never do without

Art, Trees, Cats, Laughter, Dance, and the unexpected.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

What I can do to bring a little more ease to the world--I think about this in a vast variety of ways. Right now, that has manifested in a small group of friends doing community service eight times of the year, followed by a potluck and ritual to commemorate the eight pagan holidays. We met on the first of November and put marigolds on veteran's graves, then had a fantastic ritual and feast, and ended with watching "The Worst Witch," an utterly campy movie that is vaguely like Harry Potter version 1.0

I do tend to be quite introspective, I like thinking about interpersonal dynamics, cosmic questions, ethics in action, and I have a particular interest in humor that is funny because it comes from out of nowhere.

On a typical Friday night I am

Making art with friends, helping my parents out, doing homework, or dancing. Friday nights are one of my few free nights so it tends to vary widely.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm not entirely sure that I trip people's gaydar anymore. I used to date women more than men when I was younger, but in recent years I've had a couple of long term relationships with men. I've noticed now that I'm single, that it's been much harder to catch the eyes of women, and when I out myself more directly they get pretty surprised.

You should message me if

you like haikus. Or comfortable silence. Or completely absurd late night conversations.

Or, i guess, if you like messaging random folks... yep, that would work too.
