My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I grew up in California, went to undergrad in Massachusetts, spent four years living in Europe, three in Nashville for grad school, and I just moved to Arizona this summer.

I have lived an incredibly charmed life and have an embarrassingly large supply of awesome stories to share. I am also a very good listener with good grammar and manners. I make friends quickly and I'm an excellent conversationalist. Let's have one.

In person.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Professionally, I'm this close to earning a clinical doctorate in audiology. (Audiologists diagnose and treat hearing loss.) I am completing my last year of training at the Mayo Clinic before I get my degree next May.

Right now I'm delightfully not tied down by kids (though I definitely want them someday!), a mortgage, or other stuff like that. So I spend my free time playing music (see photo), Ultimate Frisbee, and traveling.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Giving compliments.
Stopping to smell roses (aka appreciating simple pleasures in life)
Procrastinating.
Making a silk purse out of a sow's ear (aka making the best of a bad situation, finding silver linings on clouds) *how do some people not know these catchphrases?*
Oh! And Catchphrase!

Also, I'll kick your ass in pool, darts, and/or foosball, but go ahead and challenge me anyway. Loser buys ice cream. :)
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm pretty high-energy, and I am what they call a "mench" :)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Frankly, I'd rather go outside and play/travel/socialize than watch TV or read a book. But since you asked...

Books: I prefer non-fiction over fiction and totally dig Malcolm Gladwell.
Movies: Favorites include Forrest Gump, the Shawshank Redemption, Remember the Titans, and That Thing You Do.
Latest recommendations: Captain Phillips, the Lego Movie
Shows: Other than sports (and I love me some sports!) the only show I dedicate any time to is the Sing-Off. (And Whose Line is It Anyway?)
Music: I know a lot of music and my tastes are diverse, ranging from Sinatra to the Who. My current favorite is The Band Perry.
Food: I like to order "family" style and I have a broad palate. I crush Indian buffets and Mom's lasagna.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Yeah yeah yeah...friends, family, oxygen, etc.
All true, but not insightful! Try these:

1) Piano. Joy when I'm up; therapy when I'm down.
2) Lactaid Milk. I'm not lactose intolerant - it just tastes better.
3) Toothbrush. If my mouth doesn't feel clean, I don't feel clean.
4) Alarm clock. I'm a night owl by nature. I never want to start sleeping...I also never want to stop.
5) Cell phone. I tried to avoid the obvious here, but traveling abroad without cell service (maps!) made me realize how much we've come to depend on the stupid things! (I dare you to airplane-mode your phone for more than 24 hours!) I just try not to be a slave to it.
6) Perspective. (with a sense of humor) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEY58fiSK8E
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
how lucky I am.

And every time I'm on here, I think about how I can begin to court matches when other members of my gender do stuff like this:

I swear -- we can meet some place safe and in public. And if you'll let me walk you to your car, I promise not to get into it unless I'm invited.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
thankful.

And happy. :)

And maybe someday taking you out to dinner.

See "what I spend a lot of time thinking about". Ladies, you have my sympathy. I'm trying to be the change I wish to see in the world. Gimme a shot...
