My self-summary
I have my act together. I'm happy. I have a stable job, a rockin
condo in a firehouse, a sane and caring family and a quasi-reliable
and always-entertaining circle of friends. I'm educated, creative
and practical, I've traveled quite a bit (born in New England) and
there's really no one I can't talk to. I am the go-to person for
life and relationship advice for innumerous coworkers.
What I’m doing with my life
Getting my MS in Computer Science at BU. Working a lot (as a
programmer for a finance company.) Weightlifting or doing some form
of aerobics. Robbing banks. You know, the usual.
Actually, I'm going to Nepal with a local travel club in November and should really be reading and going on increasingly long hikes to get ready for that. Instead I'm usually doing homework and drinking beer.

I’m really good at
Talking to my nephews. Cross-stitch. Math puzzles. Swimming.
Cribbage. Trendsetting shoe purchases. Making my mother laugh when
she's had a long day. Learning languages. Dancing in my kitchen.
Flaunting my cleavage and avoiding Republicans. The backpaddle when
I'm whitewater rafting. Picking up the check when I go out with my
friends. (Yeah, that's a skill.) And I'm a really excellent
singer. I prefer a decent environment where I can hear myself, but
if you're up for deafening karaoke in a shitty bar definitely let
me know.
The first things people usually notice about me
I think that depends on the person.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Similar food preferences I think are pretty important, considering
if you're going to do one thing together all the time, it's eat. So
in that vein, please know I eat meat and would prefer to date
someone who does too. That being said, I like trying new things. So
if you're a super fan of something I've never heard of then I'll
probably check it out.
What I like is art. I go to a lot of museums, open studio events and galleries. I love Arrested Development; most everything on HBO; Portlandia; Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me (NPR); Project Runway; Aziz Ansari; Louis CK; Bill Maher; Bill Burr; Buffy/Angel/Firefly; Thievery Corporation; 80s New Wave and anything danceable; political/economics blogs; and too many movies to count. I won't go to a horror gorefest but you might be able to get me to watch The Walking Dead if I can peak through my fingers at the screen.
Things I don't like: country music (cliche' but sometimes there's a reason for cliches); Monty Python (it's just not funny); angry speed metal; anything to do with golf, excluding mini golf, which is fun; documentaries about animals other than sharks; yoga; and amateur poetry.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
I guess I think mostly about what will make me happy and what will
make the people I care about happy, and then I try to do those
things. And vacuuming. I hate vacuuming.
On a typical Friday night I am
Decompressing after a long week. Or at the gym, then home with a
bottle of Ommegang Abbey Ale, streaming Project Runway.
Occasionally I'm out socializing but I tend to take those
opportunities as they come and as they seem interesting, regardless
of the day of the week. I'm definitely not one of those people who
feels like a hermit if I'm not out partying because it's a Friday.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm an IT professional and I don't understand twitter. At all.
