My Self-Summary

Disclaimer: My photo is intentionally obscured. Message me and perhaps I'll share more.

I'm always really bad a writing these things on any kind of social networking site. Let's see: As you'll read about below I'm really into philosophy so I enjoy discussing a lot of different things, even/especially with complete strangers. I love reading as well, used to do a bit of writing but have had to concentrate on other things more. I've been playing guitar since I was 13 and can also play drums/bass/a little bit of piano. I'm really into live music, even if it's a band I've never heard of or just a guy in a piano bar. What I've mentioned are probably the biggest interests I have so I'll leave it at that.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm currently working towards my bachelor's degree. I don't have a typical major because I'm in an integrative studies program but it deals mainly with philosophy and religion.

I’m really good at

Well, the first thing that comes to mind is playing the guitar (it's not a conceited thing, it's just hard to suck at something you've done consistently since you were 13). I'm not sure this counts but I think the ability to coherently articulate ideas (mine or others) is something I'm good at. I dunno, I feel like I'm just talking myself up here and that is strange.

The first things people usually notice about me

Beard, hands down. Not sure after that, you tell me.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Pretty much anything by Edgar Allan Poe, the Dark Tower books, The Call of Cthulu, The Dunwich Horror, White Noise, The Stand, blah blah blah (I also usually enjoy reading my philosophy textbooks)

Movies: The Nightmare Before Christmas, Little Miss Sunshine, Walk The Line, The Rock, LOTR, Devil's Advocate, Gone in 60 Seconds, any Pixar movie, The Corpse Bride, Memento, V for Vendetta, Thank You For Smoking, Inglorious Basterds, Death Proof

Music: Tom Waits, John Frusciante, RHCP, Opeth, Metallica, Lamb of God (if you know nothing about this band, know this: they're definitely not a christian band), William Elliott Whitmore, CCR, Murder By Death, Don McLean, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Foo Fighters

Food: I love great authentic Mexican food, Italian, Korean, Thai, Greek, all sorts really.

The six things I could never do without

Family, best friends, food, water, clothing, shelter.

Ok, if the last 4 weren't interesting enough here's 4 more:
music (listening to and playing), reading, in-depth conversations, road trips.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Theism/Atheism (and a myriad of other questions related to these issues), how other people see me (which is good and bad in my opinion), why I have to have so much reading for school that I can't read what I want :(, what the hell (btw, I curse quite a bit depending on who I'm around) I'm gonna do this coming summer (I wanna do a summer study abroad) etc...

On a typical Friday night I am

Hanging out with friends, out at the bars or at someone's house. I try to spend as much of my weekend-time as possible with friends.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I dunno, I'm kind of an open book, just ask.

You should message me if

you feel so inclined.
