I am sarcastic, jaded, and caffeinated.

My Self-Summary

i'm chris.

things that are good: npr, punk rock, black coffee, elliott smith, sandals, bookstores of all sizes and pretensions, mexican food, 90s must-see tv, gin and tonic, songs that take you back, the sunday paper, people watching

things that are lame: never having time to read for pleasure, answering your cell phone in the middle of a conversation, people who say "hit me up", traffic, losing at least one sock every time i do laundry, having to be patient

What I’m doing with my life

i've been working for the defense department for about a year and a half now. somehow, after getting my degree in political science and history, i ended up working in accounting. it's strange how your career finds you. i always wanted to get into public service, and this turned out to be how i did it. it's much easier to go to work every day knowing that your job has a larger context in the world.

I’m really good at

laughing at life's absurdities, using unnecessarily big words, coming up with a soundtrack for any situation

The first things people usually notice about me

come on, i'm not THAT self-involved. how about you tell me what you noticed?

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

movies: high fidelity, sideways, swingers, caddyshack, good will hunting, grosse pointe blank, the thomas crown affair, the savages

books: high fidelity, the sun also rises, the constitution and fascinating facts about it, love monkey, sideways

music: rancid, bouncing souls, bad religion, elliott smith, nofx, the shins, suicide machines, social distortion, u.s. bombs, pennywise, afi, death cab for cutie, avenged sevenfold, dean martin, brand new, jughead's revenge, 7 seconds, bullets and octane, the clash, miles davis, the briggs, the raconteurs, john coltrane, the bastards, ben folds, or whatever else my mood may call for

food: i'm not a picky eater, so i'll try anything once. but don't give me a bud light.

The six things I could never do without

1. the walk for coffee on sunday mornings
2. sarcasm
3. beers you can chew
4. the internets
5. news
6. things that keep my life organized (messenger bag, date book, LOTS of post-its) - without these things, my mind would be going in about a thousand different directions at all times. which it basically always is anyway.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

what is coming next in life, what i should be doing, and why people in cleveland are always amazed when it's snowing heavily in january.

On a typical Friday night I am

checking out a new restaurant, getting drinks somewhere around town, going to a show, or just relaxing with a movie and saving the shenanigans for saturday night

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

i almost never look people in the eyes when i'm talking to them. i concentrate best when i'm looking slightly away from whoever is talking to me, which leads to me frequently being accused of not listening. oh well. i'm over it.

You should message me if

if the sight of a person in a fanny pack infuriates you.

if the first thing you have to see at the cleveland museum of art is the armor court.

if you have to read the comics before the rest of the sunday paper.

if you're sick of meeting people who don't want the same things as you do in life, and you think you and i might be on the same page.
