I think book stores and roller coasters are equally fun, rainy
weather is generally better than sunny,
geeks are cooler than jocks, and that one
day cats will rule the world.
Living healthy is important to me. I am teaching myself how to cook
and trying to get into a regular exercise routine. I also love
getting out into nature and hiking.
I'm better than average with a computer and spend time on Facebook
and other sites but I also realize that the world neither begins
nor ends on the internet.
True friends can debate the merits and flaws of everything from
Kant's school of philosophy vs Agnosticism to the Battlestar
Galactica finale, without resorting to violence or liberal usage of
the word 'frak'. True friends will drive an hour to see each other
whenever they can. True friendships survive despite the passage of
time, distance and bad decisions.
I can speak faux-Elizabethan English at
Faire performers (because I used to be
one), roll a mean polyhedral (in front of or behind the GM's
screen), and bargle nawdle zouss (with all these marbles in my
mouth).
Obama was my man in 08, and I still have hope.
I was raised with a mix of Jewish and Christian values, but I am a
humanistic empiricist by choice and experience.
Though I can't tell you who won the last World Series, I can tell
you where Wolverine got those crazy claws.
I think pool and
mini-golf are perfectly good
activities for a first date. Not that a person should need an
excuse to engage in either. Maybe I just have a thing for hitting
brightly colored balls into holes. What do you think Freud would
say about that?
I have spent a night stargazing on a hilltop in San Francisco, I
have stood in four states at the same time, I have seen the midwest
from 30,000 feet, I have been in Seattle when it was raining, I
have walked the strip in Las Vegas, I have been to the Getty Museum
in Los Angeles more than once and I have seen the Grand Canyon with
my own eyes.
San Diego will still always be my hometown, even though I moved
away 20 years ago.

I graduated from UC Riverside last year with a BA in psychology
(No, I am not analyzing you, nor will I. You are not as crazy as
you think you are.), and I am reading Flow by Mihály
Csíkszentmihályi because I have an interest in the field of
positive psychology and am going to apply to a graduate program in
2010, possibly in northern California, where I can indulge this
curiosity.
In the meantime I am playing Guitar Hero: Metallica on my Wii,
standing in odd positions on my Wii Fit board, updating my Facebook
status, working my way through a stack of 20-odd books, and working
at a retail job that I've held for about 4 years now.
Pulling things off despite waiting until the last minute.
Giving my cat a comfortable lap to lay in.
Learning things quickly.
Listening. Giving advice or just a shoulder to lean on.

That I tend to be quiet in person, especially around people I don't
know, but am easily drawn in to a conversation on a topic of
interest or a sarcastic battle of wit. Sometimes both at the same
time!
