My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm DiJavante, hello!

First of all, yes that is me and Questlove. Your jealousy is definitely warranted.

This first part isn't quite an exciting read. I'd jump to the other sections to really get to know me (or better yet, skip ahead and message me).

Anyway, I mostly grew up in San Jose, but I have lived many different places. I was born in Hawaii, but unfortunately do not remember it at all as my parents moved when I was only a few months old. I've also lived in Chicago, Salt Lake City, Wyoming, other parts of the Bay Area, and until recently, northern Indiana.

I went to school premed, then basically realized I didn't like science at that level at all, so decided to change my major to history. After stumbling through school for quite some time, I finally caved to my dad's advice and graduated with a degree in business. I started working in human resources right away because of luck, but have actually stuck to it and have learned to enjoy it.

I was working at the University of Notre Dame for a few years, but moved back to San Jose recently to take a position in HR at Facebook. It's a cool place to work and I'm glad to be back home.

Although I still have a close group of friends, I am looking to expand my social circle and hope to make new friends, and possibly find more.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Like I stated above, I recently took up a role at Facebook and moved back to San Jose, so I'm currently getting reacclimated back to life in the Bay.

Also, I'm now an adult in the Bay Area, and can now roam more freely then I could when I was growing up, so I intend to explore it as much as possible because I've realized I haven't hardly been around much of what I consider home.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Drumming on everything.
Finishing an entire TV series on Netflix in less than two weeks.
Reading Harry Potter books over and over.
Drinking craft beer.
Not shaving my beard often enough.
Looking things up on Wikipedia.
Singing loudly while I drive.
Tweeting about politics, sports, and tv.
Smashing the patriarchy.
Caring too much about the Cubs, Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks and Notre Dame sports.
Talking in abundance about Scandal, How To Get Away With Murder, or The Walking Dead.

I feel like I should be good at more things, but quality is better than quantity.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My smile maybe. I smile a lot because I'm generally happy.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
A good book because I enjoy reading, and haven't been doing it as much as I wish I could.

My iPhone because although many people see the negatives in technology, I see my phone as my way to keep in touch with my friends and family, I love that.

Podcasts because that's how I stay informed rather than cable news.

A good pair of headphones because music is awesome and I want it sound as close to how artists want it to sound.

Naps because they feel so damn good.

My drum pad because I am a drummer and drumming at all times is what we do.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Politics... But not necessarily the horse-race stuff often on the news. I usually am reading and listening to news regarding policy and the effects of that on the country. I'm a progressive, so poverty, feminism, the environment, LGBTQ rights and anti-racism are big topics for me.

Music... I enjoy music a lot, and hearing different kinds of music really helps make a person more complete, so I listen to different genres and groups as much as possible. And by different genres, I truly mean it. I'll try just about anything.

Sports... I know, typical guy, but watching and sometimes playing sports is quite fun for me. I'm Bears, Bulls, Cubs, Blackhawks, and Notre Dame fan. The fall is for football, and I love to watch Notre Dame and Bears games every week. Also, I love to golf, whether that's playing a quick 9 holes or just going to the range. I don't expect everyone to participate in my sports fandom, so don't worry, it's no deal-breaker.

My future... Moving back home after about 9 years in Indiana is pretty huge for me, so I'm constantly wondering what's next. And that's personally and professionally.

I've recently begun to wonder how my profile stacks up against other guys because I often judge how little I had on here based on the great profiles I see, but just realized I've never seen another guy's profile, so maybe mine is actually good. I don't know!
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
If I'm not out dancing, singing, drinking, and other such shenanigans with friends, then I'm probably chillin' at home watching Netflix, reading, or in bed early because sleep is awesome.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have seen Frozen and Pitch Perfect more than you (and loved them every single time).
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You want to watch Netflix together while discussing the importance of intersectionality in feminism and racial politics.

You like Beyoncé.

You are looking to grab a beer, watch a movie, get a burrito, or do nothing.

David Tennant is your favorite Doctor.

You like that the sweatshirt I'm wearing with The Roots on it. It's actually my proudest purchase.

Or literally any other reason.
