Another note: I tend to mark my current location as to the place I am in the world, not where I live. I hold dual residences: South Florida (Boca Raton) and New York City (Co-Op City, to be exact). I switch between them often when I'm on land.
I work as a traveling lighting technician for Celebrity Cruises. You can view a TON of pictures I've taken on my Facebook. http://www.facebook.com/mattrmedia
I joined the Celebrity Millennium on July 23rd, 2013. I've already been to Alaska (although our ship broke, so we're headed to the Bahamas to drydock the ship currently). We'll be headed to Hawaii, Australia, and many parts of Asia very shortly. I'll be gone until either January or March.
If you're not from my area and you see me looking at your profile, there's a good chance you're in an area that I'll be visiting and I'm curious about the local cultures. I'd like to be able to experience some of the places I visit. On my last contract, I stayed fairly close to the ship. This time around, I want to change that.
I do lots of things. I’m certified in several areas computer/technology related, I’m a musician who can play several instruments (e.g. saxophone, drums, re-learning the piano and trumpet right now), I’m a lighting designer for concerts and special events, an audio engineer, and I’m a software developer with a primary focus on web-based technologies.
I don’t have the widest variety when it comes to a taste for foods. It’s unfortunate, since it tends to clash with my love for traveling. I've been opening up to trying new things, especially in other countries. I'm looking forward to spending several months in various Asian countries between December 2013 and March of 2014.
I tend to listen to various forms of Rock over anything else, although there will always be a soft spot for old school hip hop and certain recent hip hop groups like the Soliloquists of Sound. Progressive Rock is my primary preference. Groups such as Pink Floyd, Rush, Dream Theater, anything Neal Morse related, Porcupine Tree, etc... are bands I can listen to endlessly. The Black Keys, the Arctic Monkeys, Dave Matthews, Moe, Lamb of God, Nevermore, Royksopp, etc... are some other various bands that fit into a variety of genres I also listen to.
As a lighting technician I’ve ended up working all over Florida and the Keys. It’s an insanely fun job once you get passed the back breaking hard physical labor when you don’t have the luxury of union workers doing the hard work for you. Yes, I meet the bands. No, I won't bring you along to meet them. I need to keep a professional image in my work place :)
