I am inquisitive, outdoorsy, and goofy.

My Self-Summary

Welp, I just moved here to NC from Tahlequah, OK. Like many others around this area, the reason for my trek up here is my spouses military job.

I will be starting a graduate program in experimental psychology this fall. I have a particular interest in cognitive psychology and artificial intelligence. Most of my social life and conversational currency revolve around school and what I'm learning at the moment (in or out of the classroom). I find stimulating conversation to be one of the finest things in life. This probably comes off as me sounding like a pretentious snot, but I most definitely have a goofy and playful side too. I suppose the seriousness comes from learning how to not be an underachiever in the past few years and finding how rewarding the benefits can be.

I really enjoy doing stuff outside: kayaking, hiking, going for walks, camping, fishing, gardening, geocaching, etc. I finally crossed that line to actually really enjoying exercising and do so almost everyday in some way or another. I still hate running though. lol

I also like to cook and am trying to learn how to sew. I'm a huge fan of video games like Katamari(s), Okami, some of the Final Fantasy series, Shadow of the Colossus, DDR, the Fatal Frame series, and a bunch others. I am currently playing Bioshock and loving it! Been a while since I've been able to really get into a FPS.

I LURV my pets, a deaf boston terrier named Zeno and a creepy fat cat named Chester.

I am ecstatically married to nfoglesbee and am looking to make new FRIENDS in the area, although there is potential for a casual relationship with a female.

What I’m doing with my life

Trying to school myself up and enjoying the ride.

I’m really good at

Cooking, backgammon, planning and executing theme parties, harvest moon

The first things people usually notice about me

I'm not sure really. A few things that have been commented on more than once: my hair (curly and crazy), my laugh, or my vocabulary.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

As far as music, I like a lot that falls under the electro genre. I like jazz/fusion, blues, and some other stuff: Boards of Canada, The Cure, DJ Food, Depeche Mode, King Crimson, Radiohead, Bjork, Tom Waits, Jazzanova, The Pixies, Juno Reactor, etc.

Movies: I like foreign films where I can get a glimpse of other cultures, comedies, anime, etc. There's a lot of movies I don't like...lol. Some I do: Ghost in the Shell, Battle Royale, Revolutionary Road, horror movies (I'll be entertained by the cheesy ones as well), I'm a Cyborg, but That's OK, anything by Miyazaki, Ingmar Bergman, or Satoshi Kon. Anything with Katherine Hepburn or Elizabeth Taylor. I love watching classic movies on TCM.

Books: I love Margaret Mead and other stuff on anthropology/cultural studies. I also love the first three Dune books. I enjoy Amy Tan, Friedrich Nietzsche, Sherman Alexie, and Neil Gaiman. Lately I'm reading a lot of non-fiction and philosophy.

The six things I could never do without

Friends, family, pets, coffee, intellectual stimulation, and it's a toss up between sushi or thai food

I spend a lot of time thinking about

artificial intelligence, vh1 reality shows, what kinds of birds are at my bird feeder, how my husband is doing and if he's ok (since he's gone all the time), how my family and friends are doing since I live far away from them now, traveling, research ideas, cultural based ideas/questions, how to reconcile my conflicting emotions dealing with my parents and how i guess it's like that for everyone almost, consciousness theories (not the fruity hippie kind, the kind scientists talk about, with zombies and bats and shit)

On a typical Friday night I am

maybe going out for dinner, probably drinking beers and playing video games, enjoying a long evening walk, adventuring somewhere at something

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I love when winter rolls around and I get to buy tacky sweaters for my dog, and my best friend in the world is Sugarfig.

Probably my almost all-time favorite activity is exploring abandoned houses/structures.

Negative people turn me off almost to a point of disgust.

This is turning into 'don't message me if...": I'm extraordinarily annoyed by people who quote movies/tv shows in everyday conversation. It only shows you spend way too much time consuming mediated reality and that you are unoriginal. I can think of way better ways to connect with the people around me.

You should message me if

You've read my profile.

You think you'd like a friend to chill with, play games, eat food, drink drinks, got to antique stores, walks, etc.
