My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm all over the map, in as many senses as I can think of for that. There's not a field I'm not interested in, and all I ask of anyone is curiosity and deep engagement in whatever they've chosen to pursue.

I love travel, and while I've had many lovely trips, I'm better known for my love of excruciating travel days and my pursuit of geographical extremes. Most of my wish-list trips right now started by looking at a map and thinking: "Huh, what the hell is that place doing all the way out there?"

I'm an unabashed nerd, and couldn't imagine living life differently, especially if it meant I had to be worse at boggle (the horror!). I also can't help but run or bike or swim for hours at a time for the meditative peace it confers, and I love the arduous mental battle that is super-long distance racing.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Growing delicious things, Reading things, predicting the weather (accurately!), making statistical art, shooting weird photographs of strangely juxtaposed landscapes, biking everywhere, and generally living large in the only city I could think of as home.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
learning new things, word games, being ambidextrous, growing tomatoes, being more competitive than you, jazz curation, generating predictive statistical models, biking faster than cars, triathlons, disc golf, falling in love
The first things people usually notice about me

Books: Borges, Calvino, Murakami, Jennifer Egan, Roberto Bolano, Cormac McCarthy, Vonnegut, Paul Bowles, Julian Barnes, Houellebecq, Ohran Pamuk .... I dunno, lots and lots more? I also kind of never read non-fiction because I feel like they've made their point in the first few chapters, and the rest is all restatement, but I'm also breaking that rule for Jane Jacobs right now.

Movies: The Warriors (because I wish I were in one of those awesome crews, fighting my way back to Brookyln), campy 70s sci-fi, and just about anything from Werner Herzog, Errol Morris, Stanley Kubrick, the Coen Brothers, Bunuel, Wes Anderson, Tarantino, or Jodorowsky (and you should probably just message me immediately if you're a Jodorowsky fan.. let's go find something awesome to see at film forum)

Music: Oh, lots and lots. I worked on an eclectic radio show in college, and with that came brazilian, jazz, bluegrass, ethiopian, indie rock, zydeco, and a good ton of other stuff. But if push came to shove, I could probably listen to James Brown until my days ran out. I also once saw his ghost, and it was super-funky.

Food? I had some butternut squash zeppoles the other day that were kinda like delicious squashy donuts, and they were amazing. I love trying every awesome dish I can get my hands on (I heart the brooklyn dining scene), and will eat absolutely anything. I also eat in the neighborhood of 3 burritos a week, just because they're so amazing.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
- My bike
- My trusty arsenal of sweatbands
- Adrenaline (or whiskey)
- The Sunday Crossword (preferably with brunch)
- Snow!
- The smoldering gaze of a good woman sitting across from me at a fine dining establishment
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The statistical probability of finding "the one" in a city of over 8 million people.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Grillin' and boozin' in my beautiful backyard garden with my dope roommates.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Sometimes, when it looks like I'm deeply engaged by a movie, I'm actually just thinking about prime numbers...
