My self-summary
Hey all. Thought this site would be an interesting place to meet some new people. I'm in a pretty exploratory phase in my life right now. I want to go outside my regular group of friends and meet some different types. Not really looking for a relationship, though it's not out of the question, either. Really I just want to meet people to have some fun with and see where it goes. I'm a pretty laid back guy. I'm kind of a geek and I'm way into movies, music, books, and video games.

I don't like the word "nerd" because I feel it's become largely meaningless in this era of niche entertainment, but I enjoy D&D and Magic: The Gathering, so call me what you will.

And since everyone seems to put this now, I'm an INTP.
What I’m doing with my life
Hanging out, meeting people, exploring my options, that sort of thing.

Not much to be honest. If you're looking for someone who's really driven toward long-term goals, I'm probably not your guy.
I’m really good at
I like to think I'm really good at critical analysis. I love to pick things apart and analyze them, especially art in any medium.

I'm also a pretty good guitarist.
The first things people usually notice about me
The beard I suppose. Sometimes I get lazy about shaving and start to look a little feral.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Anything by HP Lovecraft, Skinny Legs and All by Tom Robbins, Ringworld by Larry Niven, World War Z by Max Brooks, Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephensen, Alan Moore books especially V for Vendetta, Boneshaker by Cherie Priest, Dune by Frank Herbert, Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein, On Liberty by John Stuart Mill. Just finished reading A Song of Ice and Fire (that's Game of Thrones if you prefer the show)

Movies: Stanley Kubrick movies, Quentin Tarantino movies, Coen Brothers movies (especially the Big Lebowski). Some specific movies I also love are Alien(s), American Psycho, Akira, Trainspotting, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and Being John Malkovich. Also, I love watching bad movies for a laugh, especially cheesy sci-fi and horror movies.

Shows: Almost any Adult Swim show, The Mighty Boosh, Seth McFarlane shows, Mystery Science Theatre 3000, Breaking Bad, The Wire, Arrested Development, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Cowboy Bebop, Flight of the Conchords, Adventure Time, The Regular Show

Music: I have pretty eclectic tastes in music. I love a lot of classic rock, like the Queen, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Rush, and Frank Zappa. In terms of more modern rock, I love Mastodon and Primus, but also some more laid back stuff like Beck, Gorillaz, and Kaki King. I enjoy some rap, too, like Busdriver and Del da Funky Homo Sapien. Sometimes, I love listening to bizarre experimental music like Mr. Bungle, Blood Brothers, and Animals as Leaders. I can get into pretty much any genre of music. I really can't list enough things here so I won't try.

I think instead of food, I'll make this last section video games. I love playing Valve titles like Portal, Team Fortress 2, and Left 4 Dead. I'm also a big fan of Bethesda's RPGs, especially the last two Fallout games. Some other favorites of mine are Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Bioshock, Psychonauts, Condemned, Shadow of Colossus, and F-Zero GX.

Wow, I sure like a lot of stuff.
The six things I could never do without
I'm tired of trying to think up cute answers to this. I do hate being without my acoustic guitar and some kind of internet access, but other than that, I'm pretty low-maintenance.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
the mechanisms that shape societies and our perceptions of other people. That probably sounds pretentious, but it still tends to preoccupy me. I think a lot of what we're raised to consider normal is just arbitrary cultural conditioning.

... also zombies.
On a typical Friday night I am
Chillin' with a few friends, watching movies or playing video games, possibly having a few beers. I'm not really into going to big parties or bars and getting wasted. I usually prefer small groups.

I also love going to see live music. Haven't been doing it much lately since I've been in Boone and the music scene there is kinda lame, but now that I'm back in Chapel Hill, I'm getting way into it again.

Or working. I'm a pizza driver now so I work a lot of weekends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I consider myself polyamorous. That means I like to have multiple romantic relationships in my life. If that seems wrong to you, message me about it. I'd love to try to convince you otherwise. I think it's a wonderful thing to let go of your insecurities and have a relationship where you're both free to explore.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 18–45
  • Near me
  • For new friends, short-term dating, activity partners, casual sex
You should message me if
you like to have interesting conversations. I don't want to be very specific here, because I love meeting different kinds of people. If you want to talk to me, I want to talk to you. If it doesn't go anywhere, maybe we'll at least have a fun chat.
