My self-summary Propose an edit

Hi! I'm Jeff.

I'm looking for new friends and new companions on this crazy journey we call life. I have an overactive imagination and a hyperactive brain. I'm a programmer by trade and an inventor by inclination. I'm a dreamer, poet, writer, and sorceror; I spend more time than I should wondering about random things such as what profession I would be in if I was born in a different age, or what the most efficient way to pick things up off the floor and place them in a more proper location is. I identify with the trickster archetype and am a recovering internet troll, recovering goth, and recovering philosopher (joke -- no one can recover from philosophy).

Spiritually, I have some strange thought processes. I believe there is more to life than than the current science paradigm will admit, though I'm a rational Atheist for the most part. I think the universe itself might be alive in the way plants are alive (not conscious, no higher-order thoughts) and I usually explore such thoughts to see where they take me. Why not?

I like adventures and breaking the mold. I'm sane but I participate in risky behavior (such as climbing on top of mining equipment during ice storms, or skydiving) once in a while to remind myself I'm actually alive. I have existential crises every now and then, like any good philosopher.

Really though, I just try to spend my life in the same state of wonder that an eight-year-old has. I fail at it fairly often thanks to my somewhat jaded personality, but at least I try! I am always looking for new ways of entertaining myself. I've found that often, the most simple things I enjoyed doing as child work amazingly well with a new perspective.

What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit

I'm working at a local networking company as a software developer to pay my bills while I weave my way through school. I'm nearly done and in the homestretch and quite looking forward to the raise my bachelor's is going to produce. Aside from those two, I'm also working on writing some games for the iPhone, since it's pretty much a cash cow right now.

I'm really good at Propose an edit

Abusing words with more than one meaning into a coherent simultaneous meaning. A friend of mine once remarked that it's like I graduated from the Jane Austen school of poetry (which is, I guess, a trait unusual in a computer programmer).

I'm also alarmingly skilled at programming and anything to do with math. I really like public speaking, though I don't know if I would call myself good at it.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit

I have a penchant for the dramatic that's readily noticable, whether in clothing, manner, or affect; physically, I have strikingly blue eyes and a rather powerful beard. A few discerning people have noticed the malevolent aura of intelligence, but it's rare.

The six things I could never do without Propose an edit

Synchronicity,
Freedom,
the touch of a cool summer night's breeze whipping through a moving car, and that elated feeling that arises when I listen to one of my favorite songs.

I guess I'll have to figure out two more things later.

I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit

I originally had a sentence here about the implications of the quantization of time -- I think it was scaring people off. But I do think about that kind of thing. Quantum mechanics is some freaky stuff (and it's not that hard to understand -- the math is).

Not all of my thoughts are that esoteric. I spend a lot of time trying to figure out people. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but I'm getting much better at it now that I've realized that most people are more shallow than I usually think.

I think about my place in the universe, as well as spirituality and the like -- I've read a lot of mythology and I know most of the Gods of our species. I have an particular affinity for the Norse pantheon. I know what a meme is and I'm not afraid to use it, so be warned. ;)

On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit

I don't like to let anything in my life get typical... I'm too much a creature of change and chaos to enjoy a set routine.

If something fun presents itself, I try to get in on it. If not, I can entertain myself usually. If that doesn't work, I can always get plastered.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit

I'm actually a powerful magician.

I also really like sorting matches by Enemy% and sending hate mail to the vapid bitches that pop up in the results. Once in a while I just can't help myself and giggle in glee as I crush the tattered remnants of some retarded teenager's soul. It's a problem, I know.

You should message me if Propose an edit

You have a coherent message.

Or you wish you had a coherent message and instead you have a rambling flow of consciousness thought process that goes everywhere and nowhere at the same time, it's all good.

I get along with just about everyone. Seriously.
